I learned this spelling difference for the stupidest reason: a pun-heavy interactive text game I played on the Apple ][ when I was a kid. I had to change the spelling of an immovable object to turn it into paper that all blew away!

Now, the Fuck That Guy circuit breaker does sidestep genAI’s preferred terms of engagement, but that isn’t the same as a forfeit. It’s saying your effort, intellect, and good faith will be invested elsewhere. It can be put to better use.

Refuse bad faith actors. When in doubt, Fuck That Guy.

These very smart people are ignoring the fundamental rule of Fuck That Guy: if That Guy builds the temple, then whether there’s treasure or not*, there’s no treasure worth having.

There are so many great minds in tech who are ducking and weaving through the AI cognitohazards like Indiana Jones in a cursed temple, trying to find the powerful relic at the center. The relic will make the whole death trap worthwhile.

Now imagine the temple was built by shitheads, not sorcerers.

Heartbreak #1, most common in relationships, is when someone thinks they don’t have the right to engage Fuck That Guy because it would be Rude. They haven’t personally been hurt, or, not hurt enough.

Heartbreak #2 is when someone thinks they, alone, are smart enough to nibble around the poison.

We know this already; we have sunk it deep into the cultural hindbrain. We watch how someone treats their mother, or service workers, or small animals.

I am here to tell you, it doesn’t matter if that “someone” has a Tinder profile or eighteen Senior VPs. That same protective instinct can apply.

Honestly, it doesn’t even matter if the house, job, drink, etc. is fine THIS TIME. You’re blocking anything they could use to gain a foothold in your life. You’re making the call that what they have to offer is not worth the risk of being near someone who would gladly hurt you, or let you be hurt.

When you engage Fuck That Guy, you wouldn’t buy a house from them, you wouldn’t take a job from them, you wouldn’t ask them to water your plants, you wouldn’t even accept an unopened drink with a tamper-proof seal. Why? Because Fuck That Guy. That’s all you need.

I could go on — we could all go on — but there is a circuit breaker built in our brains for our protection, and it is called, “fuck that guy”. When someone exceeds the threshold of what we in the industry call… shitassery… then you engage Fuck That Guy, and blank them from your life and community.

So, we have companies willing to steal all the world’s work from artists, writers, everyone, and sell it back to us; they induce psychosis in vulnerable people with barely a shrug; they call it “hallucination” when predictive text prints things that are not true, and blame you for uncareful prompts.

Everyone knows people like this — though hopefully not for long. You cut them from your life as a matter of hygiene. Bad faith is rarely compartmentalized. If they’re willing to lie, cheat, and steal without shame in one area, you can’t trust them in another. It makes no difference if they’re rich.

You don’t need to keep all the facts lined up like soldiers in your short term memory, ready to fight at a moment’s notice. All you have to know is these people are shitheads who take pride in their money, not in their work. They will hurt you if you let them, because they don’t care enough not to.

People far more articulate than me have talked all about what LLMs can and cannot do. You can (and should!) choose not to use a technology because it will not meet your needs.

You can make that same choice because the sellers are grinning poisoners, and you won’t take ANYTHING from their hands.

This is true, though in this scenario, we stop that number from growing. We have to prevent them from doing what torturers have done for decades: take their festering sickness with them to police, prison, and “private security” jobs where their victims are even less visible.

Funny how Multnomah’s DA Nathan Vasquez can’t possibly prosecute ICE for tear gassing children, saying police haven’t brought him a case, but he CAN demand police create all new cases and investigations… when he’d like to throw drug users in jail, of course. www.wweek.com/news/2025/11...

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

The medics were smarter, of course, and they were already scrambling for their respirators and running into the cloud. Other people ran straight for the corner store and bought cases of bottled water to help the victims. The retreat was orderly (and VERY angry).

It was “baby’s first tear gas” for so many of us, including some literal babies. This crowd looked exactly like the No Kings march, so as you can expect, we saw the gas approaching and thought it was just smoke from the flash bangs until it started burning.
