Skilled artists can reach into our souls and find the parts of us that are soft and vulnerable and yearning. Their works can reflect us, shape us, comfort us, or challenge us. And we willingly yield that power to them, because art tells us who we are. But what they do with that power matters. A lot.
The thing about social media is that it keeps feeling like I should have something to say, when my instinct is to listen.
I'm not leaving Facebook or Threads or Instagram because I refuse to allow an oligarch to force me into smaller and smaller spaces in an effort to silence me. I will continue to speak out against the racist, rapist, felon who will be squatting in the White House and in defense of democracy.
Been following the Los Angeles area fires with rapt and horrified attention over the last couple days. My heart goes out to all the folks living in uncertainty there right now.

I wish I could say the rest of that was new, but except for Bsky itβs all sadly commonplace now.
As some of my friends said: It's no different than any other big social media site, it's just earlier in its lifecycle.
