My Etsy account got suspended. I'm fucking furious. I've appealed, but I have no idea if that'll fix anything. >_<
You should only fudge rolls to fix something you fucked up in the first place. Otherwise, it's a betrayal of the contract with your players. You're not there to tell your story, you're there to facilitate theirs.
I'm partway through Keith Rosson's Fever House, and so far my impression is "What if Guy Ritchie directed a movie about the Hand of Vecna?" Definitely enjoying it, but the ending will matter a lot.
Ugh, I know that feeling.
Just finished Matt Dinniman's Operation Bounce House. Wonderfully relevant to our current politics, vulgar and human and empathetic in all the right places. Makes me want to listen to Rage Against the Machine and set fire to something. Good shit.
Age verification: My family used a rotary phone on a party line with our neighbors.
A 2 panel sketch disgram of a 1 meter tall pod. in the second panel, an oval section pops off and a demonic little face with short tentacles flies out, crudely drawn.
My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.
Probably spend the whole night crying in relief and dumping a decade's worth of catharsis in a few hours. Then I guess I'll get up the next morning and go back to work. Always more work to get done.
It's somehow the beginning of February. January both passed in a blur and lasted a year. Being sick as a dog for the last week hasn't helped the feeling of temporal displacement. Every day, I wake up and there is some new horror. Every day, I wake up and there is some growing hope. I'm exhausted.
Nerds long for the mines.
There was a question in my 5E game last week about whether female dragonborn have breasts. My response was "Yeah, but not all the time," and everyone just sort of nodded like I had made the most profound statement in history. Astonishing.
Black and white image of two men in 1920s garb kneeling with rifles behind a Model T with the caption "Papaw wasn't a bootlegger so you could be a bootlicker"
Oh no. How sad. Also:
Kermit the frog sitting on a log surrounded by flowers Text: "what radicalised you?" empathy bro, literally just wanting people to be treated like human beings
BTW when I say abolish ICE, I mean abolish it entirely and replace it with exactly nothing. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. That's it.
I sat down to read the first couple of chapters of King Sorrow, Joe Hill's new book, and suddenly it was three hours later and I'd somehow read a third of it. This is not a small book either. Damn good, though.
Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.
It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.
Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.
Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

Two pictures of David Lynch from his YouTube series during lockdown. In panel one he says "good morning, everyone. It's..." In panel two he looks to the side in slightly aggrieved perplexity and the caption reads "It's an absolute shitshow out there, today." Thanks to @sadpeaks on IG for this!
On this day one year ago, #DavidLynch left us for places wonderful and strange. Rest in Peace.
Wednesday is TRANSPHOBES ARE TRASH DAY!
Congratulations to those who celebrate this wonderful day.
Also, every other day is also Transphobes are Trash Day, I forgot to mention that.
Phases of the Moon.
I don't know who needs to hear this today, but Resistance is NOT futile.
A piece of paper that says, in all caps: "A COMPUTER CAN NEVER BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE THEREFORE A COMPUTER MUST NEVER MAKE A MANAGEMENT DECISION"
The whole "Grok admits" "Grok apologizes" thing reminds me of the famous IBM presentation quote that evidently everyone has forgotten. And I do think representing your brand on social media counts as a "management decision".
LA Times: Elon Musk company bot apologizes
Newsweek: Elon Musk's Grok Apologizes
International Business Times: Grok Issues Apologies
The Hill: Musk's AI chatbot Grok apologizes
1. Headlines everywhere today read "Grok apologizes."
This is bullshit. A chatbot is not something that can apologize.
Pretending otherwise is simple laundering these companies' bullshit about what AI is, while diffusing blame away from the human beings that developed and released this system.
βFix your hearts or dieβ is not a slogan, itβs a fucking verb.
