This was very intensive year with a lot of development, resulting in fully recreated and much improved classic taskbar.

Now that original design is destroyed they can add battery percentage
More like macOS, where they break compatibility more often but apps within guidelines still work. E.g. removing kernel code, enhancing old frameworks, adding and using new ones.
They created a precedent where big essential OS part is a “legacy graveyard” hurting innovation, reliability and security to this day.
Commctrl v6 / Fusion was over-engineered choice of compatibility over modernization, dooming Win32 in the long term.
That was the idea but needed noun not adjective
