This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing. Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.
You were incredible, Alice Wong, and it was a blessing to have collaborated with you on projects, to have read your words and to have heard your voice, as full of life and passion and joy and rage as it was.
You made a differenceβso much of a difference.
Rest always in peace, and always in power.
Thank you for this post, and the notes on the ground on whatβs going on in Chicago. Stay safe!

Thereβs a fantastic moment in Will Trent season 1 where Will & his partner Faith have a two minute debate about the best break up song, & then jam to a song. It was a lovely mix of old & new network models, where you can let the characters have these mundane, human moments in between case work.
The R's have the fucking White House, House, and Senate. If they can't get their looney tunes shit show together to pass a bill, that's on them. And the Dems need to send that messaging out that it's on the R's, who have the numbers. Do better with this framing, @npr.org.
2025 really rolling up this way with an #earthquake, no thank you.
Absolutely. In so many of these abusive and traumatic situations, it comes from the abuser, but there are always the people on the side who condone the behavior. This is an especially brutal and awful example.
HELEN!!!!!!! SO DESERVED!!!!
There are a few versions but the formula is always as follows:
Total = 2wks pay per assistant
Showrunner & EPs = most
Upper/Mid-level = drops by level
Staff Writer/SE = least
On one show, we didn't even ask the staff writer to contribute just to buy the thank you cards. If you can, consider this.
Today's writing...
I won't tell the bison if you won't!
But also bison?
This piece absolutely leveled me.
Los Angeles! We are collecting blankets and maternity clothes (6mo+) for our unhoused neighbors.
We have two pregnant community members at the same time! Warm blankets and comforters are also appreciated, it's getting cold out.
And if you have large scraps of new carpet (6ft x 6ft ot larger)
A hand holding a notebook with handwritten notes: Fill the gap of the room. Be the sand. Put the show first. Then you'll get thick skin. Don't pitch problems, always support. Be the biggest cheerleader of the show. It's about the showrunner. Think out the pitch; bullet point it. You are an investment. Your pitch doesn't have to be touchdown. Sometime it's the timing, not the idea. Play to your strength, but you have to evolve. Find other/grow strengths. Once you put the show first, you stop thinking about yourself. Don't work from a scared place. Work twice as hard. Do your homework. Be positive. Don't join in on the snarkiness. Keep track of the changes. Then apply on the board. Be open to change. Let things go. Staff superpower: see the story from a completely different way. Don't get hung up on the details. Think about the filmmaking. Always have solutions. Don't be scared to ask for advice. Do you homework: study the showrunner. At the least, your script should LOOK right. Modulate your notes on scripts. Focus on the small ones. It's not your job to fix the big stuff [as the staff writer]. Don't give notes based on how YOU would've written it.
This was one of the first tweets I had go "viral" on Screenwriting Twitter many years ago. Here's hoping there will be more writers' rooms opening in 2025 for it to come handy again! π€πΌ

Hey folks, I know finances are tight for all, but Kaiser's mental health professionals are finishing up their fourth week of striking for better working conditions. If you have any spare coins, please consider donating to support their members. #UnionStrong β

Still looking to raise the rest of this. My former roommate didnβt pay rent or any bills and just left me with all the expenses. An unexpected expense I didnβt plan for or need post strike so any bit helps. Please share. gofund.me/4e93fad3
A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.

Donβt you tease me with more bison content and not post any tomorrow!
Excellent lists, thank you for assembling!
A small watercolor painting of a horrified looking cartoon dumpling.
My phone just auto corrected "trauma dumping" to "trauma dumpling," so I painted this in case anyone would like a visual of my mental state.
How's everyone else doing?
And should one of you pass, the other has a right to anything communal. Get that sorted now before gay marriage falls so your family has as much legal protection as possible.
And amend the language in your wills, trusts, end of care and power of attorney documents so you and your partner have a legal right to make medical decisions for each other...
Amend the language in your wills and trusts so that if something happens to the biological parent, the non biological one has every right to keep your own child and be recognized as the parent.
