Who needs a fancy PlayStation or XBox when you can play Kill The Bit on your #RC2014 Orton 3C instead. All 28 bytes were toggled in by hand.

I was thinking along those lines. Taking some baby steps first just looking at the data bus.

I’ve been using a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 to spy on my #RC2014 Orton 3C’s data bus. At the moment this just displays the hex value it can currently see. This means I can make sure the values I’ve toggled in are correct without having to mentally convert from binary.

Happy Valentines Day! Here’s a little program for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum to plot a heart on screen.

This is the code I toggled in. It just calls some example code in ROM.

Thanks. I have a blue box enclosure for it, but still making sure it's all working before fitting it. I think it's all OK as I can get it run my code.

My #RC2014 Orton 3C computer is up and running.

This is a really low level Z80 computer that you program using the switches on the front panel.

In this case, I’m calling a ROM routine that reads the switches on the left, displays them on the LEDs, then rotates them left.

@peteronion.bsky.social is it too early to ask if you are organising another RC2014 Assembly this year? I really enjoyed the one last year and I would love to attend again.

Also, how is your expansion module coming along? I've not seen any videos about the hex pad for a while.

I did, and the optional programmer as well. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I'm hoping for some serendipity once it's all put together.

The power light is blinding, so I may need to swap the resistor for a bigger value like the numbered LEDs.

Apart from that, it’s all looking good for both input and output.

Enabling much more active travel and discouraging driving is a public health intervention that will reduce the load on the NHS.

I’m local as well. We had Miles Jenner, the head brewer, do ours. It was very interesting and entertaining. He knows how to tell a good story.
