So it now appears based on many media reports that we bombed a girls elementary school and killed 175 people, and right after that Hegseth was beating his chest in a press conference saying we weren’t going to worry about “stupid rules of engagement” anymore.

Open Letter to My Representative on Proposed ICE Processing Facility Over the past few months, we have seen an increase in DHS seeking to buy warehouses to store individuals, creating concentration camps reminiscent of Japanese internment and other such atrocities. They have been seeking to buy these warehouses all across the nation, from New Jersey to Kansas and from Texas to Georgia. Community pushback has deterred a lot of these purchases…

I read Helen Oyeyemi’s “Mr. Fox” a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the ways that the novel tackles misogyny and patriarchy. It's a really interesting book in the vein of Carmen Maria Machado and others.

The total lack of self-awareness and cognitive dissonance is astounding: Christian Nationalist Pete Hegseth said today that "...crazy regimes like Iran hellbent on prophetic Islamist delusions cannot have nuclear weapons. It's common sense."

“What It Took for Me to Stop Hiding My Politics in the South”: An Interview with the Founder of Y’all Ain’t Right Over the past six months, my wife, Melissa, has been working on Y’all Ain’t Right, an umbrella site featuring our podcast, This Ain’t It, a blog, and products filled with Southern “sass, smarts, and social consciousness.” This project originated as her way to use her talents to voice her opposition to the atrocities we see enacted around us on a daily basis.

If the problem is foreign election interference, then they should have never disbanded the Foreign Influence Task Force, which investigates foreign election influence.

While we sit around to find out how bad exactly it all is, a bit of cheer: the best baguette of Paris competition was won by a Sri Lankan who appears to have started as a dish washer in restaurants and eventually trained as a Boulanger.

The facts suggest two interpretive frameworks for Iran: a foreign war as a mechanism to destroy democracy at home; and a foreign war as an element of personal corruption by the president of the U.S.

We Cannot Keep the Shades Pulled Down and Claim Ignorance at Atrocities Surrounding Us As a result of Executive Order 9066, the United States government abducted George Takei and his family, taking them to a concentration camp in Rohwer, Arkansas. They took a train to Arkansas, and during the trip, whenever they entered a town, the soldiers guarding them on board the train would tell them to shut shades so that no one outside the train, walking through the town or on the platforms at the stations, would see the individuals in the cars, under armed guard.

When we were in Norway for a year in my Fulbright, kept saying all of this. Every word of this is true.

While our rep hobnobbed with wealthy donors, while ignoring any conversation with constituents who disagree with him, he still stands behind DHS purchasing a warehouse in his district. I wrote this letter to him, opposing the purchase, but don’t expect a reply. So, I made it open.

More of this, please. The folks in this grassroots group are heroes.

Haven Watch lives by the promise, “No One Walks Alone.” Day or night, they show up. When people are released from ICE detention, volunteers meet them in the cold, disoriented, and exhausted.

Beautiful and devastating all at once.
