Dit tijdens een oefening van de ook opgeheven NATO Response Force. Geschiedenis ;)

De Evertsen heeft wel een prima radar (Thales SMART-L MM) met een bereik van zo'n 2000 kilometer, die ballistische raketten op tijd (= al in de ruimte) kan detecteren. Het fregat kan die gegevens dan doorzetten naar een bevriend schip dat wél over de SM-3 beschikt.

Over ZrMs Evertsen: ik hoorde op het NOS Journaal dat dit fregat o.a. raketten uit de lucht kan halen. Dat is maar deels waar; de SM-2-raketten van de Evertsen kunnen kruisraketten neerhalen, maar geen 'echte' ballistische raketten. Daarvoor is de SM-3 raket nodig, maar die is niet aangeschaft.
