This capitalist and statist world is so intolerable
In my utopian vision of the future, instead of offloading all the pointless, annoying work tasks (like reports that none one will read and needlessly opaque forms) to robots, we restructure work and society so that the pointless tasks don't happen at all.
Somebody should buy Mamdani a copy of Travis Linnemann's _The Horror of Police_. archive.is/e3g8I
"Your freedom begins where mine begins, and ends where mine ends" -- yes, as opposed to the old liberal clichΓ© that "Your freedom ends where mine begins, and mine begins where yours ends."

This doesnβt even have to be about cheating. If you make it about what the tech companies are taking from all of us, youβll be surprised how many students support no-tech policies.
Okay, I donated. I'm sorry you're suffering like this. I hope it helps.
How can I help you?
They're building the Torment Nexus again
Okay, then I could be misreading your suggestion that anarchists should "chill".
...we know we're outnumbered? Like, have known that for more than a century? (Shrug)
@tressiemcphd.bsky.socialβs latest is a must read. She is one of the reasons I keep my NYT subscription.

I think this could also be called "leaderful"? And I don't see mention of women's role in the events. But yes, the absence of any single source of leadership and the focus on direct action are absolutely strengths.
A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call βsymbolic compliance.β
Thatβs when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
I know you all love The Fartlantic today because of that one article but please try to remember that they played an instrumental role in the rise of fascism in the US and you do not, in fact, have to hand it to them.
They like cops so much that all weβre getting is cops. No roads, no bridges, no school funding, no culture money, just a bouquet of different types of cops
Norman Solomon had Adams' number long ago.
The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad itβs the leftβs fault, and if the right does something bad, itβs also the leftβs fault for making them do it. Itβs a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same
Thank you!
SFWA is doing a survey on LLM use in the industry. You don't need to be a member to submit. Writers/artists/humans need all the advocates we can get, and I hope we can encourage SFWA to take a strong stance. www.sfwa.org/sfwa-survey-...
I like how this offers to make seemingly illegible actions politically legible again.
The president is about to start a war for no real reason. All of the things he has blamed on the country heβs targeting β fentanyl distribution, βemptying the asylumsβ and sending patients to the U.S., alignment with Tren de Araguaβ are provably, obviously false.
Lots of people are going to die.

This is just to say...
I need everyone, esp anyone working in education or tech (but really everyone) to WATCH THIS CLIP of @drtanksley.bsky.social discussing the technologies infiltrating our schools & psyches and how she is addressing it with our young people. youtu.be/5mtcSL4S3HQ
Excellent!!
