But when Rosie found out she was pregnant in 1977, the Hyde Amendment, which eliminated federal Medicaid funding for abortion care, blocked Rosie's path to safe abortion care. On October 3, 1977, Rosie died in Texas after seeking treatment that was unsafe. (2/3)
