One of my favorite games ever. Foundational. I still desperately want a REmake-style version of it, rather than the (great! but different) 2019 remake.

Oh man, I'm obviously stoked to try out the new warlock in Diablo 4 (that fuchsia color palette is so my jam, lol), so I had meant to wait (4-28), but the little mini-season a few weeks ahead of it has a Doom crossover... the same day Yotei's new Legends multiplayer mode launches.
Genuinely tough.
Was coming here to tout this! I migrated my website to neocities and it's been a blast browsing and learning.
Diablo (4) really needs a model viewer and bestiary lore book, mostly because I wanna have a better sense of what the heck I'm looking at!
Kill a thing over and over to get a 3d model, lore text, etc.
Every time I replay DAI I think, "This is it, this is the time I'm going to romance literally anybody else," and then I hear Cassandra's voice and see her face and I

Okay so now I have to go pick up crow treats tomorrow and ensure that I always have crow treats in my purse on the off chance this happens.
Yeah, gamers, you don't have to have this disaffected nonchalance. You can just be excited. "I just beat the game and I am still riding the high, anybody else finish and wanna just chatter about it?" is a perfectly valid attitude to have.
You just know they're gonna have chatgpt coordinate the invasion too, you just fucking know it.
I suspect this was 2 projects that dovetailed together. A high-octane memberberries-filled return to RC featuring all its iconic survivors and filled with fanservice is a far cry from anything Grace goes through, or even needs. Her solo game should have been contained to Gideon's care center campus.

If you take 3's depiction at face value it's got the kind of compact, narrow, space-saving architecture you find in Japan, cars and pedestrians sharing the same single lane in obviously mountainous terrain--meanwhile every american midwest city has roads 4 lanes wide.
Raccoon has always been weird because you have a forested mountain region which isn't really very midwestern, and then in 2 you come out from under a mountain into desert. Now Wrenwood just says, "BTW another full sized second city that also has an el- is five miles from the nuclear hole of RC."
That's the trouble with renaming it the department of war and calling them warfighters--it gets a lot harder to break out that old chestnut of "this isn't *technically* war, so congressional approval wasn't necessary."
Or, it *would*, if the government wasn't 90% cowards and pedos.
This is the same dumbass way they try to be like, "But it can't be fascism because he didn't *say* it was fascism. He has to say it, officially."
If the law says only congress can declare war, well, then we just won't call it war? Checkmate. I mean we did rename it the dept of war, but like...
Oh so they feel this has been controlled, so far. Okay.
Agreed. But to pull that off there needed to be more cat-and-mouse. "The serial killer struck again and we think he's calling you, specifically, out because of this location," not, "Hey jittery desk analyst with PTSD, drop your work and go to where your mom died, alone."
Her being FBI doesn't really add anything and even makes things more confusing: being THAT nervous and bumbling, going in there alone. She should have been a journalist like her mom. Assigned to snoop (alone), bumbling because she's got a lame excuse/fake credentials that barely works.
Well, and why shouldn't I? Why shouldn't I work on a TTRPG called BioPUNKS that's like Resident Evil's campiest globe-trotting outbreak-of-the-week warzones with a healthy veneer of 80's late cold war B-movie schlock?
I got your back. The Big Lady is the one from the demo/reveal stuff. Lisa Trevor-lookin thing. Very not sexy.
There is, however, a very smooth twink pretending he's a top (and it's not Leon!).
Kids at the teen DnD program I run at the library kept begging for a d20 system so I made one and now it's swingy and they lament failures and I'm like, "I don't know what to tell ya, chums, other than what I already told ya when you balked at us not running 5e in the first place!"
That ENDING! The music! So good!
I think there's an extremely good Resident Evil game, maybe the best of the post-RE4 era, INCLUDING 4, hiding inside RE9, but it's bracketed into an absolute mess and shot through with a few nuclear-bad choices that left me rolling my eyes. A shrugging thumbs-down from me (an unimportant nobody).
These are those illegal orders the military are supposed to be defying. Fuck the generals and soldiers for their war crimes and inhumanity as much as the regime's leaders.
And before anybody chimes in, NO, they shouldn't make vials refill like Estus.
They should make the special vials you get from Iosefka and the like refill instead. It's a solution that addresses multiple weaknesses, I will die on this hill.
Look, Kansas just pulled an absolute draconian move on trans folx, sure, but for me, specifically, the universe could go a long way toward making it right by turning me into Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil Requiem. I mean LOOK at that HAIR.
I am so jealous.
The graphics also matter! D2's new engine gives everything a saturated, toy look. D1 has a slightly muted, rugged palette that lends an agedness and melancholy to it. It coheres better.
Would love a new game or reboot that tried to honor that.
And the furtive Tim Onion, so easily forgotten.
Yeah. And what that also ties into (the solidarity and the need of it) is that all the "well, just don't go to/live in Kansas" takes are really kinda simpering cowardice? If they can do this to me, in my state, they can do it to you, in yours? "First they came for...?" What are we even doing, c'mon.
Right, moving is burdensome and stressful and costly in the best of circumstances, which these aren't! "The answer is to just get a new job in a strange state and start a new life, rip up your roots, flee as a refugee with and toward nothing, embrace uncertainty, ezpz."
Great. Love that for me.
It's so nakedly disingenuous because if they actually believed or cared about media glorifying gun violence leading to it IRL, they'd have even one word to say about: film, TV, military commercials, politicians, their own social hubs, clubs, and orgs, etc.
Transparent scapegoating.
