I've been playing Deadlock non-stop since September, and that game has zero player retention mechanics. The parts of the game that keep me playing are the depth of movement, build-crafting, and the difficulty of facing a challenge with a team.
I think Wilds would have been a much more enjoyable experience if it were a fully fleshed-out experience at launch like you said. I also think that the game could use more friction and less simplification of game mechanics.
I understand that the FOMO battle pass approach probably works on a lot of players, but I have zero interest in playing games that make me feel bad for not playing them. I haven't touched Wilds since Lagi came out, and I only hunted Lagi once just to check out the fight.
