What’s a metaphor for:

I woke up in a cloud one day.

I love doing these. They take my mind off things. I’ll be allotting myself two weeks per book going forward, and email you a draft of the review and a link to the published version after that two week period is up.

I’ll be sending out a courtesy email today to all of the authors who have reached out to me about reviewing them. If you’re willing and able, just let me know if you’re still interested by replying to the email. If not, I completely understand.

I have hope against all harsh realities that this slim little volume of traumas will find the right hands and hearts to hold it steady against moral uncertainties. Self-promotion feels gross on the skin sometimes, but maybe that’s the imposter in me.

Best friend swooped in to save the day. I spent it largely alone and anxious. She’s glorious, isn’t she? Big smile across the table at me. Ordered rose for the occasion. Speaking with her feels as close to family as it’ll come.

It’d sit there laughing at me, and I’d feel a
little like gay parody Hamlet on a hand me down couch, in a silk blouse with someone else’s stain on the sleeve. Maybe I’d grin back at it and toast the atmosphere with private ritual, have a glass of something chilled and vinegar.

My cat looks for goddesses in the toilet while I sit here, close to tears, puzzling over font choice and plastic brain placements. Earlier, I was half-convinced ordering a decorative skull online would solve my problems, like some honest representation of millennial pink mirth
