It's horrifying to see #Melissa intensifying right up to landfall - I dread to think what will happen in Jamaica, with up to a metre of rain forecast π§ͺ
But it's clear why Melissa is so powerful - it was fuelled by waters made abnormally warm by global heating:

Our climate seems to be more sensitive to greenhouse gases than we thought, which means we have to up our decarbonisation efforts.

The inability to produce a strong positive shortwave and strong negative longwave Earth energy imbalance trend is found to be a robust feature in the low climate sensitivity models, especially for models with a climate sensitivity below 2.5 kelvin.

"Emissions have basically stabilized and accordingly the annual increase in atmospheric CO2 has stabilized (it spiked in 2016 and 2024 due to El Nino events but if you neglect those individual spikes the data show a clear leveling)," Mann.
That, seriously, is about as wrong as it is possible to be:

The climate impact of a #hydrogen economy: We welcome contributions to our session at the #EGU25 in Vienna & online. We aim for a better understanding of a hydrogen budget and impacts of hydrogen use.
