"My pants demonstrate an intent to conceal my balls, and it's up to me if I decide to conceal my balls." - Linus Sebastian, on France's claim that GrapheneOS is used by people who want to 'conceal' their data.

No one told me you could just get a used Pixel and boot grapheneOS onto it. The security features I get from this OS are kind of nuts

Mutahar from SomeOrdinaryGamers on GrapheneOS:

- if it pisses off the government to the point where they're asking you to put in backdoors, and you tell them "to fuck off", and then you get labeled as the "criminal friendly phone", then you're probably doing something right

I'm sorry, but you can't run GrapheneOS on a Samsung phone

as of right now only Google Pixel devices are supported

Android 17 is building a new Contacts Picker to keep your address book private Android 17 may finally let you share only specific contacts with apps thanks to a new Contacts Picker tool. Here's how it may work.

Google is 'inspired' yet again by GrapheneOS.

We are so far ahead and this shows how far behind the curve Android 17 is with this, we had it implemented on Android 13 in May 2023.

Welp, you clearly stated "GrapheneOS phone" and "Kubuntu laptop" so I hope they were joking (unsuccessfully) 🤷‍♀️

GrapheneOS: the private and secure mobile OS GrapheneOS is a security and privacy focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility.

most of the info you need is here:

im daily driving GrapheneOS with Sandboxed Google Play

yes, I highly recommend it whether you need Google services, or you don't

For example, with GrapheneOS I can partially (or fully) disable the USB-C port to make it immune to any sort of Rubber Ducky

there are some apps that work better on GrapheneOS, and worse on stock Pixel Android

22.10.2025 20:20 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

sandboxed google play is a compatibility layer, it allows you to run the official play store and play services as if they were regular third-party apps

on stock android (im sure you know) play store and play services have system level integration and control

on grapheneos, they have no privilege

difficult to call an OS secure when it has no proper app sandboxing, memory tagging, no proper hardware TPM/secure element support, etc

free and open source? definitely!

secure? only relative to other desktop OSes at best

if you need security on a mobile device - grapheneOS would fit much better

So far one of the best things about GrapheneOS is that holding down the power button opens the shutdown menu (as it used to on Android before Google fully embraced shoving shit sandwiches down users' throats)

my fellow GrapheneOS enjoyers

let's make a list of apps that have made a conscious decision to officially support GrapheneOS

almost all Android apps work fine on GrapheneOS, but some have decided to go an extra mile to target the private and secure OS

Weeks later after installing it, I'm still absolutely loving GrapheneOS. Feel like I should've done this sooner
