I think it's a shame that the "Rogue Squadron" movie was cancelled/delayed. A Top Gun style movie with X-Wings would have been fun and different to anything else SW that's been made.

An FAA 'experimental' register wouldn't make any difference here. We already have a light aircraft association that does a similar job. My understanding is that the CAA had issues with the build quality of the Flug Weke 190 kits.
Indeed, though there have been cases in recent years where the CAA hasn't accepted vintage types onto the UK register over identity claims.
