Is elecampane tasty? In one version of Rapunzel I read, the notes suggested the craved vegetable was elecampane (though it seems to me there's a lot of brassicas with names that are similar to rapunzel)

Yes, we prune our (satsuma, I think it makes a difference) plums in late summer, right after we get the plums (& a few stray branches in spring because they're going to be too tall for me). It makes them a nice shape for picking & very productive. Sunset zone 17, heavy soil, dry summer, also matters
