Ukraine says Hungary detains Ukrainian bank employees after leaders trade accusations Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Hungary early on Friday of detaining seven employees of Ukraine's state savings bank after a fresh exchange of barbs between the two countries' leader...

European Union has been way too soft way too long with Hungary.
This isn’t about Orban or Hungary, but about EU’s inability to act years ago.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet.

This is what happens when we start wars over #oil. We would rather not have them, but when we do, we are speeding the transition to #renewables. Oil companies get a short term boom, but the life expectancy of their industry goes down. I expect the war in #Iran to be the same.

Trump Has No Plan for the Iranian People The mere act of bombing Iran will not by itself create a stable regime.

Trump has no strategy to help the Iranian people build a legitimate state—in fact, he’s dismantling tools that could have helped promote civic engagement and build a united opposition in Iran, @anneapplebaum.bsky.social argues.

How America Chose Not to Hold the Powerful to Account Our national project of elite impunity

After the arrests of powerful men across the world, you might be asking why the US has so much trouble holding its leaders accountable for lawbreaking. Since Nixon, all three branches of government have worked hard to ensure they can break the law with impunity www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

India braces for Hormuz shock, oil costs may rise - Business News | The Financial Express Rising Iran-US tensions have pushed over 52% of India’s crude imports through the Strait of Hormuz, heightening energy security risks. Analysts say refiners may pivot back to Russian oil if Gulf supplies face disruption amid escalating geopolitical uncertainty.

Over 50% of India’s crude imports passes through the Strait of Hormuz - a key global oil transit route. This leaves 🇮🇳 exposed to supply disruptions and price volatility. Reducing this risk means scaling renewable electricity and electrification🧵(1/5)

Four years have passed since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia was supposed to win in three days. Instead, Ukraine reinvented modern warfare, built a drone industry, and can destroy a thousand Russian soldiers in a day. Ukraine can win.

Wide protected bike-lane in Downtown Vancouver filled with people on bikes.

It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
