isn’t tied to the manifesto of Starmer and Reeves. TBH I don’t know much about Lewis but he comes across as a well-meaning activist à la Jeremy Corbyn. But we need brains as well as principles which is why I suggested Bell.
Unless he was a *very* good actor when at the Resolution Foundation he is a compassionate person and is considerably to the left of the drivers of policy. He was credited with making Reeves’ recent budget less awful than previous ones. We need someone who understands economics and who
Will Iceland’s presence have any effect on qualified majority voting, given that they will be voting against Hungary and Slovakia (and Poland if it goes rogue again)? Have they been asked to hurry up and bring their voting powers with them?
If I was living in Gaza as a gay man there is a fair chance that I would have been one of the 70,000 revenge killings at the hands of the IDF, or have had my limbs blown off, my house and town destroyed and have been ethnically cleansed and living in a concentration camp.
So there is that.
Care to share what you disapprove of in Torsten Bell?
The perfect solution is to process applications quickly. And it would also help if the Home Secretary and the Home Office stopped boasting about returning people and stopping people etc… it is performative cruelty addressed to Reform voters and it absolutely stinks.
All that needs to happen is for Farage to tell the King of Merica that Shah is Iranian for King and that there is one waiting in the wings, with chequebook at the ready and Bob’s your uncle.
Their children might have been born here and so have as much right to be here as Kemi Badenoch.
In addition to a custodial, or at least suspended, sentence, I hope.
From what you have written and from your profile you come across as a compassionate person, Try not to take things said on social media too personally. X and recent politics hardened many people in ways that damaged our online personalities, sadly, and I include myself in that. Try not to worry.
Clive Lewis wouldn’t have x party support. I would give the job to Thorsten Bell in a heartbeat. He has more recent ministerial experience than Burnham, is fiercely clever & very compassionate and doesn’t sound like a robot. And he doesn’t come with any baggage.
But what would be truly remarkable is if there was one of those gadgets that you spend half an hour working out how to use it and then two seconds to thread the needle.
Give it a rest, Kresten. The UK is doing more than most countries, and your petty hatred of the UK is misplaced in terms of the defence of Europe.
Please don’t. We are full and do not have enough room for any more middle aged men to come out.
FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?
Still, not as bad as Hungary, by a long chalk.
No, of course not. But better to do that than to stay and slowly poison the entire family, and not even hide doing it.
It’s not like Labour only came to power yesterday. Whilst they have been doing the unpopular things that cost them support they could also have done the boring things that would level the playing field.

Apart from anything else, he was too cocky.
She could help to reverse the immigration problem by going back to Nigeria.
There is an assumption that democracies must basically be good and decent - but the freedom they bring often only applies to the in-group. Israel is a democracy yet it has killed a hundred thousand civilians in last couple years. The US is a democracy but acts as a drunk Empire.
The finalists were announced before the semi finals were broadcast and the winner is, in any case, Senhit and Boy George, because Senhit’s husband is rich. It’s still a joy to watch but can’t be taken seriously as a competition. (I’m boycotting in any case this year because Israel).
America and Israel are in this together so it is irrelevant, in terms of blame, which country dropped the bombs on the schoolgirls and then on the medical centre treating the survivors.
And still there are ardent pro-EU Europeans who think the UK is the bad guy of Western Europe.
At least it wasn’t almost 200 girls in an Iranian school, which Americans are also responsible for, but these attacks are disgusting war crimes and America and Israel now deserve to be compared to Nazi Germany.
And where is the opposition to this?
It’s what Nissan wanted, as well.
The US and Israel are acting together so it makes absolutely no difference which country dropped the bomb: the US killed all of those Iranian children - half of them in a second bombing when sheltering from the original bombs.
Beyond disgusting and America responsible without doubt.
Honestly I am surprised that Ergodan isn’t besties with Trump and Netenyahu as he seems to be about as mad and evil as they are.
If, by any chance, it doesn’t get through the semi (now includes jury votes and limited televotes per caller) then (a) I won’t have to miss my first Eurovision since I started watching in 1969 and (b) the only song I will have heard before the night will have been the Italian entry.
