With greater use of technology, cybersecurity was more important than ever. We successfully deployed secure election technology to over 1,000 voting places province-wide.
Technology allowed us to serve voters faster - on election day, voters experienced an average wait time of just 2.5 minutes. Technology also enabled us to report preliminary results faster than ever, with 85% reported by 9 pm on election night. That's 1.7 million ballots counted in one hour!
The 2024 election transformed the way elections are administered in BC. We successfully modernized the voting process to serve voters better, and a record 2.1 million voters voted in an election that was accessible, free, fair, and secure.
