Finished Le Guin's "The Dispossessed"
I like how Le Guin seems to structure her novels like essays, presenting a thesis that's examined over the course of the story to come full circle again at the end with deeper understanding; she leaves the reader thoughtful. Glad I stuck with this one.

The cover of Ursula K. Le Guin's science fiction novel "The Dispossessed" as illustrated by Muhammad Fatchurofi: two planetsβa red and yellow, and a blue and whiteβorbit each other in a great starry expanse, each planet's magnetic field mapped out in sweeping lines of matching color; and in the center where they meet a figure stands divided, one face toward the people of his home planet and one toward the people of his neighboring planet, faces alternating blue and red, yet within himself he stands small, blue and white like the lefthand planet.
Today's book: "The Dispossessed" by Ursula K. Le Guin
Not sure why I'm struggling to settle in to this one (after all weekend I'm only at Chapter 3), but it doesn't feel like it deserves to be put aside, and I'm stubborn; I'll get through it.

The cover of editor Alice Wong's anthology "Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century" as designed by Angela Carlino of colorful overlapping triangles on a white field.
"There is a persistent belief amongst abled people that a cure is what disabled people should want. To abandon our disabled selves and bodies and assimiliate into a perhaps unachievable abled skin."

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Green is hanging up laundry, while singing Cherubino's aria from the opera The Wedding of Figaro.
Blue peeks from behind a bedsheet, startling Green badly enough to prompt Green to shoot straight up through the ceiling.
Blue: You sing when you do laundry by yourself?
Green: Iaaah!
Taken aback, Blue looks apologetically up to the ceiling.
Blue: I didn't mean to startle you.
Green: It's okay.

Gone for a bit of an arty one today. Two waders which I think are probably redshanks; bills a bit short for godwits.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green wake up next to each other in bed. Blue looks at Green drowsily, while Green yawns.
Blue: Good morning.
Getting up, Blue is already wide awake as Green still looks groggy.
Green: Did we have anything particular planned for today?
Blue: I don't think so.
Green raises his tail to his chin in thought, as Blue turns to look over his shoulder.
Green: How's the weather?
Blue: Let's see.
Blue returns from checking the weather, completely covered in snow.
Blue: It's a lovely day to stay in with board games.

Finished Alice Wong's "Disability Visibility"!
This was an anthology of Big Feelings that my alexithymic brain can't translate into the right words. It's one of the most emotional books I've ever read. I love and hate how relatable and relevant it is, and at the same time I wish it weren't.

The cover of Zora Neale Hurston's coming-of-age novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God" as designed by Stephen Brayda, with art by Patrick Dougher and photography by OSTILL is Franck Camhi on Shutterstock: an illustration of mixed media and vibrant colors and textures, a black woman stands in profile with upturned face against a gold sun on a jewel-blue background of overlapping, faded newsprint and worn canvas; paint splashes add color to the woman's monochromatic bust, while a frenetic celebration of patterns and hues overlay her blouse and the crown upon her head.

The cover of Amal El-Mohtar's folk fantasy novella "The River Has Roots" as illustrated and designed by Faceout Studio, Spencer Fuller: dahlias flower in shades of rose, coral, violet, and through their sun-dappled leaves and stems twines a river metallic and serpentine cutting through the white field to a view of cloud-speckled sky and wooded hills.
