π₯ We kicked off 2026 with a new Pro-Homes Interview series with a simple goal in mind: highlight the work, goals, and perspectives of the elected officials and advocates that are working to make Connecticutβs housing stock more abundant, affordable, and diverse.
Changes like these only happen when the pro-homes movement shows up to testify in favor of action, emboldening legislators to do whatβs needed to bring down costs.
If weβre going to continue to act to bring down the cost of housing, weβre going to need all hands on deck. We should allow everyone across the 169 municipalities in CT to have the option to build an ADU on their land.
As she discusses, PA 21-29, passed in 2021, allows municipalities to opt out of allowing ADUs as of right β and 2/3rds of municipalities took that option.
π‘ Rep. Kavros DeGraw knows better than almost anybody that despite the passage of HB 8002, the housing crisis is still raging in Connecticut. One of her solutions that the legislature has the opportunity to implement is ADU reform!
Submit written testimony for SB 151, the Housing Committee bill that would help legalize the building of smaller, more affordable homes in areas with public water and sewer, at this link: www.cga.ct.gov/aspx/CGATest...
π¨Missed yesterdayβs Housing Committee hearing? Thereβs still time to submit testimony! π§΅
This is a great opportunity to promote common sense, proven zoning reforms that will give opportunities for young people to obtain homeownership and for seniors to downsize within their communities. Sign up to testify virtually TODAY by 3pm or in person at the link in our bio!
