If you can support my wife and I during a difficult phase my wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer a 2nd time. We're going to both be out of work for a while whilst she undergoes treatment again. Her care will require my assistance as a full-time caretaker.

This striking astrophotograph captures Comet C/2023 A3 (TsuchinshanβATLAS) in exquisite detail as it sweeps through a star-filled sky. The cometβs brilliant nucleus glows an icy blue-white, surrounded by a faint greenish coma produced by sublimating gases like cyanogen and diatomic carbon.
Its dust tail stretches diagonally across the frame, a luminous gray plume that gradually fades into the darkness. Subtle striations reveal the intricate flow of dust and gas sculpted by solar radiation and the solar wind, while variations in brightness hint at the cometβs rotation and outgassing jets.
Behind it, a dense field of stars β from warm orange giants to cool blue dwarfs β forms a glittering backdrop that emphasizes the cometβs sheer scale and motion. The image likely captures C/2023 A3 near its brightest phase, when it developed its long, fan-shaped tail and became one of the most anticipated comets of its generation.
Itβs a portrait of motion, impermanence, and cosmic grace β an icy traveler from the outer solar system burning brilliantly for a fleeting moment before continuing its journey into the void.
Since I have insane comet envy, here's reposting of my shot of C/2023 A3 (TsuchinshanβATLAS) from last year. Hopefully I will get to image one of these current comets at the EOM. #comet #astrophotography #astronomy #spacethings #fyp

A wide-field night photograph of the Milky Way arching across the sky, with the Cygnus star cloud and its dark dust lanes clearly visible. A small dark-roofed cottage sits in the foreground on a grassy hillside, while the bright star Deneb shines above the galactic band. The image reveals dense star fields, reddish nebula patches, and intricate dark structures cutting through the glowing galactic plane.
Been working for quite some time to get a shot like this one. Loads to luck and planning after an utter failure the previous night. Can finally check this off the list. Captured Cygnus over our holiday rental last night. #astrophotography #space #milkyway

This is pretty cool. Can't say I've seen this solar data before. What am I looking at and where is it from?

What helio centric studies is Voyager 2 conducting that Voyager 1 isn't? I'm also curious how much funding something like the Voyager program requires at this point? π€

I'm looking for help from the astrophotography community with help developing an accessibility script (in pixinsight) for users with color blindness/CVD. The script is designed to assist in visualizing gradients easier to help in processing. If you know anyone. I need testers. @me #astrophotography

Artist Christopher Doll and his painting of a scene from the beginning of Star Wars. The painting looks better from a distance and needs more work
Got a great start on this painting today, loved seeing so many people show up for a Friday of Space Art. Thank you so much. Iβll continue this one and get into the details, correct some shapes, and get this looking like itβs racing off the screen. Definitely needs some pew-pew bits too

Here is Earth's rotation realized in an unusual way: using a camera scanning the landscape of Tivoli, Namibia, Bartosz WojczyΕski focused on the sky.
He created a timelapse spanning 24 h that has a focal point in the sky rather than on the ground.

The Salmon Cannon Is A Stroke Of Scientific And Environmental Brilliance
The story behind the meme is one of those rare cases where everybody wins.
Definitely ridiculous but not at all stupid. Damming has done a lot of damage to ecosystems over the years and to indigenous peoples that count on salmon. This fixes both problems.
