Keep thinking of a quote by Brian Cox's Logan Roy in 'Succession' when his back's against the wall:
"We have to ACT upon the world!"
I cannot stand the fact that, as a self-employed person, I manually have to transfer money to the IRS each quarter, knowing it will be used by a dictator to bomb other countries. Just another reason to get the heck outta here
Will this make me more jealous of your coffee adventures?

At the same time, the extent of the Washington Post layoffs highlight how it didn't matter how hardworking, loyal, smart, collaborative, award-winning, competitive, knowledgeable and devoted so many of the staff were. It wasn't enough to prevent being laid off by one of the richest men in the world.

The idea that the British Raj respected the rule of law is legitimately one of the funniest things I've ever read in my entire life
"Collective investments in resilience are cheaper than everyone building their own fortress. Shared standards reduce fragmentation. Complementarities are positive sum."

Delivering a keynote on geospatial risk and climate adaptation later this week, and just added a βThe Worldβs Gone Mad And Iβm Sorry This Speech Isnβt About Greenlandβ topper.
Worried all I have to say is completely irrelevant to the times. Ah well, nevertheless.
what I really like about the way he frames this speech is that he doesn't naively describe the old international order as one without inequities or with wholly fair application of the rule of law, but as one where the gains were worth accepting those gaps

Wow... Writing this paper was a bit like watching a soap opera unfold. But it's out now in @bjpir.bsky.social
The big story is still: The ECB marched forward, with clear democratic authorisation, but not the Fed. Green central banking is much more democratic than people think.
For me, understanding *just how much time* I have to put into business development was the biggest hurdle. Has made me massively appreciate the struggles of sales folks, too.
Californiaβs insurer-of-last-resort has just pulled off a Wall Street first.
In December, the stateβs FAIR Plan Association locked in US$750mn of reinsurance protection through a catastrophe bond.
But critics say the insurance pool missed a trick.
