Good conversation with @csmonitor.bsky.social's @sophiehills.bsky.social on Democrats and religion this fall. Look to see much more coverage as some hi-profile Democrats are leaning into their faith more prominently.

Mike Johnson says Iranians have "misguided religion"
Somehow, in despite 10 years of increasingly deranged behavior from Trump and co, they find creative new ways to surprise me with their depravity.
It's a pretty high bar to clear, but I think this may just be the most Islamophobic election cycle in US history
FWIW the most insidious part in this clip is not the cartoonish AI slop, but the opening scene that merely shows two girls in hijab going to school
This was never about "sharia"
Unfortunately, support for the beliefs that undergird this kind of action aren't fringe in the US. Surveys shows that 1/3 of Americansβand ~2/3 of White Evangelical Christiansβhold Christian nationalist views, and similar numbers believe that we're living in the end times, with Christ's return near.
For this and much more, check out our new spotlight today.
Support among the youngest Americans (18-29) has reached a new low for Trump since before his first presidency. Today, just 27% of young Americans view Trump favorably.
...and Hispanic Protestants, from 48% in September 2025 to 37% in February 2026.
Trump's support among religious Americans has also declined, most notably among white mainline/non-evangelical Protestants, from 55% in September 2025 to 45% in February 2026.
While most Republicans (81%) continue to hold favorable views of Donald Trump, the decrease from 85% in September is statistically significant.
A year into the second Trump administration, @prri.org's latest data show that 36% of Americans hold favorable views of Donald Trump, down from 41% in September 2025, while six in ten Americans view Trump unfavorably (60%).

Brandon Straka: Iβm at the Pentagon this morning for a briefing with @SecWar @PeteHegseth on the Iran strikes. Session starts in 10 minutes.
Here's a Jan. 6 rioter posing with a press pass before Pete Hegseth's press conference, just to give you a sense of the type of "journalists" who were in the Pentagon briefing room this morning.
This is an ESSENTIAL thread here.
We are really going to regret the technology we have built.
The Department of Education has hung a massive banner honoring a racist college dropout who built a lucrative career out of targeting professors for harassment
Itβs insane this is legal. People around Trump are profiting off war and death. Iβm introducing legislation ASAP to ban this.
-Zero Congressional consultation or approval.
-Zero preparation of public for need/consequences of war.
-Zero evidence of thought about "OK, what might the other side do?" Next month. Next year.
-Zero mention of anti-nuke agreement Trump voided, or Trump claim last year that nukes "obliterated."
βDo you favor or oppose the United States initiating an attack on Iran under the current circumstances?β
21% favor,
49% oppose,
30% don't know

The second and third richest men control Google.
The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.
And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.
See the problem here?
This really feels like an Orban/Erdogan situation in which the aspiring dictator is making sure his friendly oligarchs control as much media as possible

Please read this article to the end. Even before ICE got involved, this started because this *blind man who speaks no English and uses a curtain rod as a walking stick* got lost on a walk and some Karen called the police on him and they tasered and beat him bc he didnβt drop the rod. WTF
remember when david klion gave the marshal petain speech about how we should return to Twitter because the masses are still on Twitter
