That it does!
I appreciate the offer! I've got people who have looked over my CV, given advice. I'll think about a mentor. The most frustrating thing I think is the use of the Automated Scoring Systems many places use. You spend hours writing an application only to fall at not writing the exact word they want
I have also experienced that pain!
I think I'm going to be able to quote this verbatim eventually ๐ how am I supposed to know how to improve my applications and get further if no one is willing to even provide a basic level of feedback!
"We cannot simply ignore the nonsense with the idea that it will shrivel and die if we donโt give it light." - never were more true words spoken
I've been speculatively applying to new jobs in the heritage sector, primarily for better pay but also to see if all the work I've done in the last three years have paid off...received yet another rejection email having not secured even an interview ๐ฎโ๐จ it is disheartening to say the least
Cool #zooarchaeology discovery from the Studying History & Archaeology in Lympne site I've been assisting with!
A big thanks to Thomas Vaughn for his pending report and the heads up on this find!
How do people honestly afford commuting to London? Seen a rather intriguing job, but if I was to get it, I'd be spending ยฃ600 a month for 3 days p/w train travel (that's on season ticket) which would make my take home ยฃ300 lower than it already is ๐ heritage pay is broken. Difficult upward travel
I was sent pictures of this statue today at work, offering it for sale by a gentleman claiming to be in Egypt. His description claims its King Khasekemwy, but doesnt match the images shown so clearly a scam.
Who would be best to report to? #Egyptology #AntiquitiesTrade
Famed pseudoarchaeological content creator Erich von Dรคniken, best known for his popularization and promotion of ancient aliens claims, has died at age 90.
He predated Hancock, writing in the 60s and 70s. Ripping off earlier ideas as @cultarchaeo.bsky.social mentions. Probably the most famous/infamous of the Ancient Aliens crowd who Hancock, while not espousing aliens, follows the path of with his ideas of precursor civilisations.
With the recent passing of Erich von Dรคniken, here's a short article from 1987 dissecting his claims about aliens in Chariots of Gods (1968). It's a reminder that archaeologists have been debunking pseudoarchaeology for nearly 40 years.
The Kent Archaeological Society thanks Kent County Council's Heritage Team and Dana Goodburn-Brown for donating archive boxes. KCC and Dana are digitising the HS1 project archive and have condensed materials, freeing up boxes for KAS's use. We look forward to more progress on the HS1 project!
Thank you for your interest in our Christmas Jumpers.
Proceeds support archaeological research and public engagement carried out by the Kent Archaeological Society.

I am easily pleased it seems! #Archaeology #curator
One for my #Geospatial specialists...can you use an RTK GNSS to record individual contexts rather than features/finds in plans etc.if yes, do you need extra tools on top of the standard GNSS such as Leica? #Archaeology
A dark grey and pale white Pottery fragment held in a hand wearing a dark green latex glove. The Pottery features raised decoration in the form of the hind legs and rump of a deer.
I love these little Nene Valley Colour coated ware hunt cups. I think we have a fragment of the rear hind legs of the deer that is unfortunate enough to find itself being chased by a hound.

Taking place tonight with @profdanhicks.bsky.social a wonderful talk on Pitt-Rivers in Kent!
Or someone is out there making silicone moulds / cast copies of this coin and flooding eBay etc with them. 3/3

It should read INVICT IMP but both mine and the reddit one reads INOI(damage)T T IMP.
The obverse should read IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II but both read AE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II.
So we either have contemporary copies of Severan Denarii (fairly common) with identical damage (unlikely) 2/3
Is there any way of reporting / recording possible modern copies of #Romancoins? I've just seen this one on a reddit post, and I have am almost exact copy (down to the same damage roughly) which was reportedly found in an attic by the new owner. The reverse on mine is the exact same 1/3
Ankylosaurus, because who doesn't like a walking armoured tank with a big hammer tail (also because my 7 year old sister-in-law loves telling people how to pronounce the name properly!)
If it isn't what's my favourite dinosaur it's usually what's my favourite find, why did people bury their houses, why do they leave behind so many bones. Kids often come up with the most direct and sometimes curveball questions, I love it!
Human remains on social media-ethical reflections โ Bodies and academia share.google/McK4cQzcSSRr... an interesting discussion on depictions of human remains on social media in #archaeology and #museums. I'd be interested in other people's thoughts!
