Jessie Diggins, Olympic cross-country skiing gold medalist, from the Twin Cities: “I want to make sure you know who I’m racing for…”
Saw him back her in December.
“Cautiously moving cars”. Made me think of this. (Different day)
Verdict is NOT GUILTY
it is -10 here today. I was supposed to go do a volunteer shift standing outside loading groceries into people’s cars to deliver to families stuck at home. just got a call not to come in because they have too many volunteers already. if you were wondering if the cold would stop us.
WTF!
The following items will not be permitted inside the protest area: • Firearms or other weapons prohibited under Illinois law including knives, clubs, metal pipes, or similar objects primarily designed or used as weapons. • Wooden or metal poles, boards, or sticks thicker than ¾ inch in diameter or with sharp ends; sign supports must be hollow cardboard or similarly flexible material. • Shields, body armor, helmets (other than required motorcycle/bicycle helmets while riding), or gas masks. • Glass bottles, rocks, bricks, fireworks, or other hard objects that can be thrown. •Large hard-sided coolers, backpacks, or bags larger than 4×4, except as medically necessary. "Individuals who bring prohibited items will be asked to return them to their vehicles or dispose of them before entering the protest area," said Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills. "Failure to comply with these restrictions or other lawful orders may result in removal from the area and possible arrest under applicable state or local laws." The restrictions are intended solely to protect the safety of protesters, residents, businesses, and first responders.
Broadview is restricting the items people will be allowed to bring inside it’s designated protest area near the ICE facility — under threat of removal or arrest — ahead of a protest tomorrow, which the village said it expects to bring 2-5k people to Lexington and Beach Street.
Not sure if these numbers include the “citations” that have been issued to protesters and rapid responders. Mine was dismissed this week and I suspect others were as well.

Looking forward to being on the radio tomorrow from 1-1:30!
Here is a little clip of the American Constitution Society podcast I was on talking about being detained by ICE.

When they destroyed our Mary figure in our anti-ICE #nativity, I bet they didn’t think that we would make it MORE powerful! Honestly, if you tear something down that you don’t like, you’re pretty much never the good guy. That goes for nativities and the entire county, btw. #DHS, take note.
In Evanston tonight, outside Chicago—
In the bitter cold, neighbors are gathered outside Lake Street Church for a vigil for ICE victims.
This is where @revdrmichaelwoolf.bsky.social preaches—the pastor arrested on camera by ISP at Broadview.

Federal agents deploy tear gas
Federal agents deployed tear gas in Elgin IL
Feds deployed tear gas while fleeing an apartment complex in Elgin, IL. just now. Unclear if they kidnapped the person they were after.
I was honored to get to shake your hand yesterday. Thank you for your voice.
Made my first court appearance today to defend against the charges from November 14th. The state says that ostensibly what happens in Broadview is legal, but we know it is neither right nor legal. The state says that protesting a concentration camp is wrong, but we know better than that, too.
I feel like the fractures we are seeing in the MAGA coalition have some people hoping the status quo will simply make a roaring comeback, and judicial consequences will simply engulf all of the bad guys. There's really no precedent that supports that expectation.
With 21 clergy on 11/14 and 15 moms on 11/7, 35 of the 100 in the last 10 days.
"What's happening here is evil."
A tweet from J.J. Abbott (@jjabbott) says: “Narrator: He did not fight.” It quotes a 2022 tweet from John Fetterman (@JohnFetterman) that reads: “Health care is a basic, fundamental human right. I will fight for health care like the health care that saved my life. #PASenateDebate.”
In terms of big disappointments, he gets honorable Manchin.
Here is some footage of the rioting Antifa protestors outside the Broadview ICE facility last night.

Thank you for amplifying this! Your reporting in this moment has moved me!
This morning, while protecting ICE from protestors at the ICE facility, the Broadview Police arrested the Statue of Liberty.
