image of Pokemon character Pryce sitting in a green wheelchair and holding a Swinub Pokemon. To the left of him is yellow text with black outline that reads, โAccess needs are not โspecial needs.โโ The background is a faded image of a town in the Pokรฉmon game featuring three buildings, trees at the top, and a body of water at the bottom.
A screenshot from the game Stardew Valley featuring the character Maru. The text box reads, โTrauma-informed healthcare is critical to ensuring the physical and emotional wellbeing of disabled people with medical trauma.โ
Disabled people are significantly more likely to experience medical trauma than their non-disabled peers. โจ๐ฉบโจ

Whether directly or indirectly, disability will impact us all.

Solar-powered wheelchair:
We donโt talk enough about the overwhelming number of individuals who develop disabilities after giving birth.
Nearly 20%. Millions every year.
Letโs start talking about it. ๐
The Magic School Bus show featured a wheelchair user named Mikey, who was a computer whiz and the younger brother of main character Carlos.
Being disabled does not excuse being racist.
Being disabled does not excuse being ableist.
Being disabled is not a free pass to engage in behaviors that are harmful to others.
To celebrate #NationalTellAFairyTaleDay, we've reimagined Croc's origin story as an illustrated fairy tale! ๐ Read along to learn how Croc grows to become the hero who saves the Gobbos from the evil Baron Dante. You might even spot some easter eggs hidden within the pages! ๐
Green text on a pink background that reads: โAs people with disabilities, society tries to tell us that we donโt belong in countless ways. It builds stairs instead of ramps. It shames us for requesting the same access as our peers, calling this equality โspecial treatment.โ It creates boundaries instead of freedoms. And ultimately, it attempts to make us the โothers,โ the outsiders. That being said, donโt shy away from getting out there and living your life to the fullest and, in doing so, challenging these archaic and ableist standards. Break down those barriers, and build an elevator instead. And remember, you belong.โ
Shopping for a house as a wheelchair user:
โEverything looks great. Just need to build a ramp and maybe widen the doorwa- โฆ oh nevermind. The hallways and bathrooms are narrower than the passages inside of a pyramid.โ ๐
Examples of the accessible housing crisis in the US:
30 new homes being built in a development. All with stairs and two floors.
55+ communities being the only homes built with accessibility features. Strictly age-restricted.
100+ unit apartments being built with only 1 or 2 accessible units.
A screenshot from the game Stardew Valley featuring the character Abigail. The text box reads, โCutting disability benefits does not make those unable to work magically able to do so.โ
55+ communities should not be the only communities being built with accessibility in mind.

Me when people try to claim that disabled people make up less than 1% of the population:
A Spyro game screenshot with the characters Spyro and Bianca. There is a text box at the bottom that reads, โBIANCA: Disabled people are also allowed to have wants, not just needs.โ

Ordering a new wheelchair every five years is like a full-time temp job.
Please make sure that the shower benches or seats in accessible hotel rooms are large enough to be usable and safe for disabled guests.
Disability doesnโt care how much money you make.
Disability doesnโt care what you believe.
Disability doesnโt care who you voted for.
Disability doesnโt care how old you are.
Disability doesnโt care about your healthy lifestyle.
Disability can happen to anyone at any time, and no one is immune.
Disabled people should not have to be resilient all the time.
Forced resilience is exhausting, and, while many of us have learned to function this way, we shouldnโt have to.
The PBS Kids show Dragon Tales featured a wheelchair using dragon named Lorca who was born without wings and was unable to walk.
We need a creative term to describe the cognitive process that occurs when the social norms, courtesy, and acceptable behavior of non-disabled people go out the window when interacting with disabled people.
A screenshot from the game FFVIII featuring the characters Rinoa and Squall. There is a grey textbox above the characters that reads, โRinoa: โToxic positivity does not make disabled people less disabled.โโ
Pink text with white outline and light green shadowing on a green background that reads, โLetโs retire the r-word for good.โ
White text on purple background that reads: โIf disabled people didnโt โget political,โ we would not be able to attend school with our peers. If disabled people didnโt โget political,โ we would still be regularly locked away in institutions. If disabled people didnโt โget political,โ we could be discriminated against in the workplace without any repercussions. Disabled people do not have the privilege of not getting involved because, otherwise, we would be forgotten.โ
