Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti “We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

Kamala Harris at her closing campaign rally:
"Donald Trump intends to use the United States Military against American citizens who simply disagree with him."
I know TV producers work on an incredibly tight schedule and are constantly bouncing between different topic—US invading another country! ICE murdering civilians! Epstein—but there are some easy ways to quickly find past statements that might contradict what a guest is saying.

The shooting marks a dramatic escalation of the latest in a series of immigration enforcement operations in major American cities under the Trump administration. It’s at least the fifth person killed in a handful of states since 2024.
West Virginia has secured $199 million for the coming year from the Rural Health Transformation fund.
Yet West Virginia hospitals are anticipated to lose about $1 billion a year in Medicaid funding when the One Big Beautiful Bill legislation is fully implemented.
Replacing working men with billionaires.
Hard to imagine a better way of summing up 2025.
A planned rule to set new silica exposure limits—and finally address Appalachia’s devastating black lung crisis—has been under continued assault by coal bosses and the Trump admin. Now, it looks like it’s off the table entirely.

New Column: Most of this column is a very interesting (to me!) explanation of why Trump has succeeded in politics: because he lies constantly, and lying is actually rewarded in our culture, at least the way he does it. newrepublic.com/article/2035... via @newrepublic.com
NEW: Trump says America needs more foreign workers.
His company requested a record 184 of them for 2025.

As West Virginia records the largest reduction in fatal overdoses across the nation over a 12 month period, substance use disorder experts are urging caution and encouraging the state to continue the services available to people who use drugs, reports @caitycoyne.bsky.social.

Rep. Laurel Libby, R-Auburn, recently used my second-place finish in the 1,600-meter run, and that of my teammate in the 800-meter run, to malign Soren Stark-Chessa, the trans-identified athlete who finished first. One of the reasons I chose to run cross-country and track is the community: Teammates cheering each other on, athletes from different schools coming together, and the fact that personal improvement is valued as much as, if not more than, the place we finish. Last Friday, I ran the fastest 1,600-meter race I have ever run in middle school or high school track and earned varsity status by my school’s standards. I am extremely proud of the effort I put into the race and the time that I achieved. The fact that someone else finished in front of me didn’t diminish the happiness I felt after finishing that race. I don’t feel like first place was taken from me. Instead, I feel like a happy day was turned ugly by a bully who is using children to make political points. We are all just kids trying to make our way through high school. Participating in sports is the highlight of high school for some kids. No one was harmed by Soren’s participation in the girls’ track meet, but we are all harmed by the hateful rhetoric of bullies, like Rep. Libby, who want to take sports away from some kids just because of who they are. Anelise Feldman Freshman, Yarmouth High School Yarmouth
this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

You did it again! Another leftist scalp collected. Because of your support, one of the most radical bureaucrats in Washington has just been forced out. Dr. Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress, is gone. This is what victory looks like. This is the power of truth-and the impact of patriots like you having our back. Because of your support, Dr. Carla Hayden —the woke Librarian of Congress handpicked by Obama-is out. Fired. Removed from power. This is a huge win for America-and for patriots like you who make this work possible. Carla Hayden wasn't just a radical librarian. She used her position to:
• Promote sexualized content to children, • Push gender ideology in elementary schools, • And lent James Madison's 200-year-old crystal flute to Lizzo... who twerked with it on stage and bragged: "B*tch, I just twerked and played James Madison's crystal flute from the 1800s!" Hayden cheered her on. But you had enough. You helped fund the investigation. You amplified the truth. Our exposé went viral, and was picked up by The Daily Mail, which led to a firestorm across the country. Now, Carla Hayden is gone. But our work isn't done. Before she left, Hayden installed another radical-Shira Perimutter—as head of the
U.S. Copyright Office. Permutter is a far-left ideologue who has: • Maxed out donations to Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and Chuck Schumer, • Pushed European-style censorship, • And championed a "three strikes" rule to silence dissent online. She's still there. And now, she should be the next one sent packing. We exposed her once. Now, with your support, we'll finish the job. Help Us Keep Exposing the Swamp Every gift lets us rip another mask off the deep state. Every win is proof that when you fund accountability, you get results.

Now AAF wants Trump to fire the head of the copyright office.
