2,788 Oregon families faced eviction cases in January.

Record high. Nearly double pre-pandemic average.

Legislature cut $129M from eviction prevention.

$10M restoration = 2,300 families kept housed. 0.5% of emergency reserves.

Legislators cut it. They can restore it. bit.ly/4ciQnrS

Oregon is subsidizing vacation houses while first-time homebuyers face record prices. LC 276 ends this subsidy and redirects $9-$10M/year to proven down payment assistance programs.

At a time when housing advocates increasingly face hostility, she never wavered in her commitment to those experiencing homelessness and families struggling to find affordable housing.

The housing justice movement needs more champions like Claire Hall. Her legacy strengthens our resolve.

Commissioner Hall was a fearless champion for housing justice throughout her 20+ years of public service. She chaired the Oregon Housing Stability Council and co-chaired the Oregon Ending Homelessness Advisory Council, overseeing the creation of hundreds of affordable housing units statewide.

The short legislative session is our final chance to prevent further cuts to important services that Oregonians rely on, and it starts in less than two months.

You'll be hearing more on this from us in the weeks ahead.

This is the result of the [Pick Your Favorite Adjectives] Bill (HR 1) that congress passed this year. The changes made at the federal level automatically change also at the state level.

In 2025, the Oregon House actually voted to do this decoupling, but the Senate declined to act.

Important op-ed in the Oregonian published yesterday. NP is participating in efforts to decouple our tax code from the federal one. If the legislature doesn't act, we'll be going into the short session with nearly a $900 million loss of income.

Some math on movement-building in Oregon:

For every $1 invested in policy advocacy, estimates suggest up to $100 flows to frontline service providers.

That’s why we fund the infrastructure—not just the symptoms.

End the Oregon Tax Break for Rich Investors - Oregon Center for Public Policy QSBS, a tax break for rich investors, was indefensible before Congress expanded it. It's even less defensible now.

Congress expanded a tax break for millionaire investors. Oregon's tax code automatically copies federal changes—so we'll lose millions unless the legislature "disconnects." NP is joining @ocppnews.bsky.social in advocating to stop this giveaway to the rich.

When 743 Oregonians spoke up about emergency funding cuts, leadership listened. $11M restored = 1,400 households stayed housed.

Our coalition secured $1.14B for housing in 2025. Now we're building infrastructure for future wins.

Goal: $10K from 50+ supporters by Dec 31.

It seems likely that City Council will pass legislation banning AI rental price-fixing at tonight's meeting. But the Council's conversation about the ban has raised interesting questions (and caused some drama, too). For example, do renter protections necessarily mean reduced housing development?

The clash: Federal rules now REQUIRE mandatory behavioral health treatment for permanent housing. Oregon law REQUIRES voluntary services.

Providers who rely on both funding streams (~$65M federal + $80M state) face forced choice: violate state law or lose federal $.

Labor Day reminder: Workers literally bled for weekends, 8-hour days, overtime pay.

Oregon workers need 88 hours/week just for rent now. ($33.02/hour housing wage vs $15.70 minimum)

Same collective power that won the weekend can win housing justice.
