Totally ripping off the plot of Mr. Robot…
I’ve thought of that one before (with Kohler as the sponsor). Ideal matchup would be the two worst teams in FBS.
A private company stepped in to fill the Tunnel Bus void:

Hockey (both college and NHL) used to put the referee’s name on the back of the jersey. I remember at Michigan hockey games the students used to chant about a referee named Shegos a lot (both things like “Shegos, you suck!” and “We want Shegos” if a different referee made a call).
This is from the subscription streaming service FuboTV. Has pretty much every sports-related channel except for TBS/TNT/truTV (and RSNs in a few regions). Multiview only works on some devices, but is fully customizable (unlike YouTube TV).
Yeah, that one was great - incredible rural transit with a connection by kayak! Dunno why…
Also Sicko that the broadcast is sponsored by CSX, a freight railroad.
LOL at “Library Gray Conspiracy”!
Hope you and Jackson made your flights and got home safely! Will miss following your updates - can’t wait to see this and the Canada bus trip on the channel!
The border questioning doesn’t shock me given your unusual travel itinerary. I’ve been afraid I’ll get it when I’ve taken trips to Canada to ride trains/for a CFL game. Haven’t had issues myself - heard land crossing far from home can generate scrutiny, but mine have all been at Detroit-Windsor.
Thought you might have to do this, though as you said it doesn’t violate any rules. Though I was hoping to see a long walk and some non-canonical Translink rides ... It sounded like the 75 was only a few minutes late at the end - did that unscheduled driver stop take a long time?
Yeah - you’ll lose the layover in Bellingham, but should at least reach the border at the same time. Unless you miss the connection in Bellingham, in which case you won’t be able to make it there by transit today.
They should have slightly over an hour layover there, unless they somehow make the negative 2min connection to the 75.
This is also the weekday-only route responsible for you having to stay until today - if it had run later on Friday or on Saturday you could have made it on Saturday…
That’s tiny for a service called the Purple line. With that name you expect rail or at least BRT - not a 6 person van!
OK - that sounds more reasonable, though still tight (particularly if you stick to transit all the way to YVR).
This is the leg @thetransitbandit.bsky.social missed due to heat-related closure - glad you made it…
That’s going to be tight - from what I see the earliest you can reach the Peace Arch is 7pm, and then you have to enter Canada, go to YVR, and make it through security+US preclearance. If you happen to be on the 8:45pm JetBlue BOS redeye that may be tough - perhaps rideshare+Nexus makes it possible.
San Diego Trolley (light rail) allows boarding at any door using a proof-of-payment system.
Wondered what you were doing given the extra weekend - you could get all the way to Longview today, but couldn’t get to Centralia until Monday (if not for that you could get all the way Sat). Portland seemed like a better place for a weekend, though more time on the Oregon coast seems even better!
Yeah - I thought the same, but when Miles didn’t update this morning I discovered the 8:20am bus would make the same bus out of Coos Bay and just wasn’t showing on Google Maps.
Also, I was looking at Google Maps and thinking you’d have to leave at 6am on the 20 from Crescent City to get as far as you can go, but you actually have until 8:20am. The GTFS for the connecting Coastal Express from that (the second bus named that on this trip!) is messed up.
At least you made it - was wondering if you’d go back to the same place, somewhere else in Crescent City, or continue the journey tonight. You could have gotten to Brookings on local transit tonight - while that wouldn’t help you get further tomorrow, you could sleep in.
Glad you’ll be able to resume your trip - was figuring Portland would be where you stopped for the weekend if you resumed from Crescent City. Looked like you could maybe get to Longview, but Portland seems far better to spend the weekend. Guessing you’ll be on the 2:15pm POINT to Crescent City…
One issue with returning to Crescent City and resuming from where you left off tomorrow - that would extend the trip into Saturday, and it seems like some essential links in WA are Monday-Friday only. Maybe there’s a way around it without Amtrak/intercity bus, but I didn’t see one.
Seeing “SMART” and “Windsor” makes me imagine some new service operated by the suburban-Detroit SMART replacing the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Bus.
Glad you made that 5 minute connection - otherwise you’d be waiting an hour and (as far as I could tell) couldn’t get past Paso Robles tonight.
@thetransitbandit.bsky.social did this trip, albeit in reverse (as well as starting in Vancouver and ending in Tijuana). Though he did cheat once by using Amtrak due to a bus service shutting down because of extreme heat. Understandable as that would mean losing a whole day…
