Abhorrent. βThe soldiers film people fighting over the aid, and once itβs finished, they throw teargas to disperse the crowd. I saw displaced people who couldnβt get any aid picking pasta from the sand.β www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

Truly impressive investigative work.
Indeed difficult, but vital to watch.
In addition to @janinadill.bsky.social's analysis, a few LOAC notes:
--no claim of warning prior to firing on ambulances
--commander's failure to punish can also be war crime
--IDF personnel may face universal jx abroad
Critical @nytimes.com visual Investigation of the IDF attack against three Red Crescent Vehicles. This is hard to watch, but we mustn't look away. With all available information I struggle to see how the attacks analysed here could be anything but a war crime.

Latest: The IDF investigated itself, but questions remain about how Israeli soldiers closed around on and fired for over six minutes at rescue workers who were unarmed, in uniform and praying, killing all of them. Our video investigation reconstructs what happened.

For about a year, I worked with a retired British academic named Alasdair Spark to solve a mystery: where did the original photo from the end of The Shining come from, and where/when was it captured?
Last week, we finally found the answer.

Today the US declared the war in Sudan a genocide. It sanctioned the RSF's leader Hemeti and companies supplying his paramilitary forces. Last week we ran this video investigation by @sanjanamv.bsky.social & others naming RSF commanders overseeing atrocities. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H231...
Proud of the Sudan Witness team at @cen4infores.bsky.social and the work with @nytimes.com to track the commanders in Sudan responsible for some of the horrific events happening in the country. A painful but impactful documentary.

Visual evidence collected and analyzed over months by The New York Times reveals widespread atrocities in Sudan committed by a shadowy paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces β often under commanders' watch.

We teamed up with Ayin Network, an organisation of Sudanese reporters working anonymously inside the country, to speak to survivors who had experienced the RSFβs tactics firsthand.
We also wanted to know who was in charge. We mapped out scores of propaganda videos identifying commandersβ areas of control, and found several of them at or near the sites of atrocities.
