Excited to (officially) share that I'm joining @StJohnsLaw this summer! While I will deeply miss my @UConnLaw community, I'm looking forward to building community & supporting students alongside new colleagues at this phenomenal institution.

Reviewing 80 student reflection journals for Negotiation. Don't think I've ever been described as someone with a "calm 'yogi' demeanor" (maybe "frenetic Miss Frizzle") . . . but I'll take it!

Ex: Asked Lexis+AI to draft client letter to landowner re CT's Recreational Land Use Statute. Content was pretty good. BUT—the 1st cite doesn't treat this statute & the other two cites are 2ndary sources. When asked to provide cites to case law, it did not cite any CT cases. 2/3

Tested Lexis+AI. Still not a substitute for carefully researching and analyzing documents. Some takeaways: Not programmed to cite the most authoritative law in response to prompts, sometimes cites unhelpful sources, can miss important text when summarizing docs, etc. 1/ 3

By engaging students with socio-historical context & reimagined judicial opinions, we can ask students to examine the stories judges don’t tell— helping them become competent legal thinkers & advocates, wking to “eliminate bias, discrimination, & racism in the law.” (3/4)

While it is, without a doubt, essential for law students to understand the text of an opinion, focusing on the text alone often masks issues of bias, oppression, and injustice. (2/4)
