say down the swanny but literally never heard anyone say that

Tomorrows plans have fallen though and just described them as having “gone up the swanny” which has created much mirth and confusion with the Italians how have no idea what I mean and I suspect that’s the case with Brits born after 1979.

It’s a very lauded book but I always ponder of the ethics of basically using someone else’s creation and characters - especially in a negative way. Never see anyone talking about this aspect which I find fascinating.

The amount of times I don’t take a book out anymore because it would involve having to take a small bag as well to carry around all day is maddening.
