Wellington District Licensing Committee database on NZLII showing it currently at 22222 decisions
My love of numbers means that this is a delight (yes one must take joy wherever one can find it, it is the little things that add up)

Got a very quick question I hope someone can answer for me.
Do all prisons in Aotearoa New Zealand have physical access to the New Zealand Law Reports?
If not physical, electronic?
Thank you
We could look at hosting the reports on NZLII. We already have all the discussion papers associated the the 1990s Resource Management reform - www.nzlii.org/nz/other/law...
It is not unprecedented - we put up the reports from the Securities Commission that we could save when it was replaced.
If you know of any I have missed (and I expect there may be a few), please send them to me on the feedback@nzlii.org address.
Thank you so much
Am I a bad person for wanting a cabinet reshuffle *just* so new Briefings to Incoming Ministers are generated?
I really enjoyed the hunting down of documents for our BIM's database on NZLII - www.nzlii.org/nz/other/NZB... - the range of organisations preparing BIMs is so fascinating.
Anybody else (or just stupid me) can not remember what days they put down as leave over the holiday break so unsure whether I should officially be working on Monday or just unofficially working?
The New Zealand High Court (NZHC) has issued decision [2025] NZHC 4002. In 2024 the decision with the MNC of 4002 was issued on the 20th December 2024. Based on this it is likely the NZHC will issue 2.5% more decisions in 2025 than it did in 2024
Sorry I did not realise I had it - if I had I could have loaded it by the last server upload. I missed the cut-off by about 15 minutes
Have just loaded it to NZLII now but it won't show up until after 8pm, probably closer to 8.30pm
The second Health Board report on Drug Dependency and Drug Abuse in New Zealand is now up on NZLII at www.nzlii.org/nz/other/NZA...
@strictlyobiter.bsky.social @publicaddress.bsky.social
Wonder where I can get hold of the old cabinet Office Manuals to add to NZLII? Hmmm. Wonder if Parliamentary Library has them all in paper?
Thanks for putting the idea in my head
@openpolicy.bsky.social
@debterron.bsky.social
PDFs are perfect thank you
I have to be on campus twice next week to train my pre-Christmas summer workers so will try to scan the 2nd then. Much harder to scan and load material now I am no longer working at the Library with access to their MFD's that enable good book scanning (I used to go in early - like 6am to scan)
Any scanning that I then did not have to spend hours cropping and removing black marks from! There would be some, probably in the Royal Commissions or Commissions of Inquiry database that I was OCD about remeasuring as I scanned so had minimal black lines.
Not sure when I will get time to scan the second report, will do my best.
Hope those that offered a donation to NZLII for me to do this have followed through on that pledge!

You asked and I (have partially for now) delivered.
Well @strictlyobiter.bsky.social and @publicaddress.bsky.social asked
First Report of the Board of Health on Drug Dependency and Drug Abuse in New Zealand is now on NZLII at www.nzlii.org/nz/other/NZA...
Not my finest scanning job but it will do
We will get them digitised and up - probably into this database - www.nzlii.org/nz/other/NZA...
Will try to get them there by Christmas
Absolutely. Will aim to get it done before Christmas
If you are in Wellington or Auckland and wish to meet up with myself, and two of the Directors of AustLII to talk about all things NZLII (and hear about the changes we are making) please rsvp to nzlii@nzlii.org
Wellington 15 September 5pm NZLS rooms
Auckland 17 September 5pm MC
Exciting times!
How much realistically can I do today?
I have 15 things on my immediate NZLII to do list.
How many should I expect to get done today?
Before you say none as it is a Saturday - I have hurt my knee so can not do much else, and husband has his game afternoon/evening on. Perfect time to do NZLII stuff
Start of a judgment
Can not remember any other New Zealand High Court cases about ostriches!
The judgment referred to in this Stuff article www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3606...
is available on NZLII here - www.nzlii.org/nz/cases/NZD...
Anyone who reads the decisions of the NZ Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (www.nzlii.org/nz/cases/NZP... ) would never advocate for Security guards being allowed to carry batons, tasers or pepper spray - newsroom.co.nz/2025/03/05/r...
Specifying that handwriting of Post Office workers must be of a certain standard
Going through the New Zealand Gazette files before they are conveyed to AustLII to be added to our exceedingly popular New Zealand Gazettes database - and came across this gem from 1905
Thank you
I should never make predictions. The big round number has just been achieved (so today, and not Tuesday or Wednesday as I predicted in my previous post) - and by a database not in that list.ππ₯³
There are now 600,000 documents on NZLII with the updating of the Treaties database
But also waiting are
Court of Appeal
Motor Vehicle
Disputes Tribunal
ERA
IPT
Media Council
Human Rights Review Tribunal
ASA
Private Security Personnel
Yes I am struggling to keep up at the moment and this list shows it. So it could be any of them.
Most likely it will be a District Licensing Decision - Auckland, Wellington or Queenstown are all highly likely. But it could be a Government Gazette, two more years were added last week and there are several more waiting.
It could be the first Taxation and Charities Review Authority decision.
Perhaps tomorrow, if not tomorrow then definitely Wednesday, NZLII will reach another round figure of number of documents on it. What that document will be is more uncertain than usual as there are a lot of things awaiting loading.
When you see an email from the NZSC (Supreme Court) in your inbox and get excited that it might be a very early (for them) first decision from them for 2025 - only to find it a resend of a 2024 decision (presumably there had been a correction made)
Screenshot of the front page of the Auckland District Licensing Committee on NZLII showing that there are decisions dated 6 January 2025
It was Auckland DLC -
