"The authors also highlight how open science resources... can help improve our knowledge of invasive species impacts.
“Public databases like InvaCost and the Atlas of Living Australia, and open research platforms like Biosecurity Commons, were essential to this work,” added Dr Moran."

sounds like it would be a good idea for there to be some sort of guide for editors and authors trying to navigate both :)

Anonymising entire R projects can be very difficult, but we did that for this Proc B paper by using the Github for development and then OSF/Zenodo for archiving and sharing specific anonymised versions.

TADA! Simple guidelines to improve code sharing
That's a great Q. Github's great for developing code, but isn't well suited for archiving versions of code for publication/review. Other platforms (OSF, Zenodo) are better suited & allow you to share anonymised versions for review (we talk a little about it here: doi.org/10.32942/X2D...)

Our study assessed data and code policies in eco & evo bio journals, and we found:
1 - A lot of journals have data and code sharing policies that are confusing.
2 - Policies are getting stronger.
3 - When clear data and code-sharing mandates are implemented and enforced, they work.

Only 38% of ecology and evolution journals mandate data sharing and just 27% mandate code sharing
New paper out today on how to fix this! Thnx to @eivimeycook.bsky.social @asanchez-tojar.bsky.social @nickmoran-sci.bsky.social @royalsocietypublishing.org

🙌 wonderful work leading this @asanchez-tojar.bsky.social, @eivimeycook.bsky.social, and @nickmoran-sci.bsky.social.
Transparency with open data and code sharing is a critical first step in the quality control pipeline for research code.

📣 Hot off the press at #ProcB!
🔍 Our study checked data/code-sharing policies in 275 eco/evo journals and compliance in Proc B (n=2,340) & Ecology Letters (n=571). Policies exist, but clarity and strictness vary, affecting reproducibility.

New work out of @sortee.bsky.social, led by @eivimeycook.bsky.social @asanchez-tojar.bsky.social, myself, & a huge global network of researchers.
It has some genuinely fascinating insights into the peer-review process, and advocates for a stronger & more robust approach to code/data sharing.
