I also see this manifest via plenty of young designers who have a very difficult time making work without a very specific client prompt. Ambiguity can be scary, especially when you're early in career, but it's a bummer to see the education system churning out students paralyzed by it.
Feel like AI acceptance in design circles can at least be partially blamed on design education conditioning students to prioritize client needs above all else, where the how or why something is made is entirely secondary to it having been made to someone else's satisfaction.

So the plugin I used was Cursor Image Lite. The problem I kept running into is that it'd align my custom png to the center of the cursor, so the fingertip would never actually be where I was clicking. I got around it by offsetting the hand to the lower right of the image, but its still not perfect

My site is built on WordPress, so not hard at all! Just tried out a handful of plugins till I found the simplest. Not at my computer rn but when I am I'll share a bit more.
The alignment isn't perfect and I don't know if I'll keep it for long but I had fun making a dumb Diablo-style gauntlet cursor, complete with a hover state, for my site tonight. alexgriendling.com
Spent some time on the heart. Still feels a little muddy, I'm having a hard time time balancing the Heart's detail with the glass and creating enough contrast to ensure both are legible. I like the white blood, but too much of it pooling will distract from the heart/sword.
