I donβt think this, by @kschake.bsky.social, could have been published at a more appropriate time:
It is "interesting" that Brexit is being presented to Americans as a cautionary tale when the main lesson from it is that you can impose a massive economic blow to a country and 10 years later that blow is barely discussed and the government is commitred to not undone it.
Remember Fiona Hill? Sheβs now sounding the alarm again: βWeβre definitely on a path toward full-on state repression. Thereβs no question about it. Iβve thought about this for an extraordinarily long time.β When Fiona speaks, we should all listen.
I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.
The Economist, Kevin Kal Kallaugher:
Emergency London European summit on Sunday takes on even greater significance to support Ukraine in face of US treachery.
While an invite has been neither sought by, nor offered to, Ireland, I do wish Irish Government would attend.
Selection of German headlines this morning:
βItβs now the law of the jungleβ
βThe former leading power of the West can no longer be relied upon.β
βNow it's up to the Europeansβ
βThe worst case is now the new normalβ
βThe free world needs a new leaderβ
And so it goes. This isn't simply or primarily about Trump throwing Zelensky under the bus. This is about the future, if any, of the US as an alliance partner
Perhaps not evil, but they're certainly the face of American corruption.
Macron says he told Trump in two phone calls before and after the Paris meeting on European security last night that a βsimple ceasefire would resolve nothing in this conflictβ¦Recent history has shown us that when there is only a ceasefire Russia doesnβt respect itβ
I'm not convinced by this. The large AI infrastructure builds are still necessary.
I'm more curious why China is trying to convince the West that we don't need the most advanced tech to develop AI.
My cynicism suggests this is a PsyOp to weaken the US' view of dependency on Taiwan chip production.
I recently had a conversation with a Tesla factory worker, while in California on business.
Let's just say it was an eye opener.
Baltic shadow tankers:
Broken down EVENTIN is highly likely safely anchored outside Sassnitz.
Often breaking down JAZZ made it past the Great Belt bridge and has not yet caused an environmental disaster.
Still another 37 (all sanctions) or 6 (sanctions purist, only EU) chances present!
Some notes about #tankers and #oil sanctions.
Will this time be different?
1. Urals price re Brent moves with US/G7 measures & with Russian counter-measures.
Note closing of differential by mid-2024 => implementation of sanctions evasions measures + Red Sea embargo
Almost a year has passed since the #BalticDefenceLine agreement was concluded by the governments of #Estonia, #Latvia, and #Lithuania. Construction is ongoing and a new cordon sanitaire is being established between the free world and rushist anti-civilisation. 1/3 www.mod.gov.lv/en/border-fo...
This is not a helicopter boarding of EAGLE S, but likely very similar.
It's from a new Finnish TV-series "Konflikti" showing a dramatized attack on Finland.
I would very much like to watch it. Do you know about it with any kind of subtitles?
Data centres are looking to emerging markets as grid capacity issues stalls further investment in Ireland.
@investigates.thejournal.ie reveals that renewable energy in other EU countries can offer a greener solution to Irelandβs βdirtyβ data centres.

Or American presidents of the last 125 years
Such a needless tragedy π
That's me out the gate.
My sincerest gratitude goes to 2 Bde, CIS (AR), who are arguably the most impactful unit in the Defence Forces.
I enjoyed my 15 years in the Army Reserve, I would recommend Reserve Service to anyone looking to develop themselves.
Go raibh maith agat.
Swedish Coast Guard KBV001 has been guarding cable destroyer Yi Peng 3 almost continuously since Nov 23 is since 8 h moving north.
Yi Peng 3 is still closely guarded by German and Danish naval units of varying sort. There has been active RIBs a few times last days, but unclear if it means anything.
Warships at sea: carrier, helicopter, frigates.
How did western Cold War Navies work together in practice? My article on the development of Royal Navy tactical doctrine in the cold war is out (link at end). It explans how year after year of Royal Navy work on classified doctrine was vital for RN and NATO success. This is a shameless plug. 1/x
One wonders how much today's liberators have learned from Lawrence's experience in 1918.
If I recall correctly, they were troubled by revolutionaries being unfit to govern. Today's revolutionaries appear to be government ready, based on early reporting. They've done well to preserve institutions.
"Stratactical"
Coming to a corporate PowerPoint slide near you soon.
Russia is piling on the manpower to set the conditions for possible negotiations once Trump arrives in office.
The pressure on Ukraine is intense. This is an infantry fight and Russia not only has the manpower advantage, but it also has a high tolerance for taking casualties.
Grim, indeed.
It's delightful to see the racist bigots get crushed in #GE24 for the most part. And they can stop saying they represent 90% of Irish people. As the Irish people have spoken decisively and told the far-right where to go in no uncertain terms. Let that be a lesson to them.
Size of the anti-Russian protests across Georgia tonight are crazy.
For anyone interested in the interplay between thermal detection and counter-detection in the infantry context. This YouTube account is worth a follow.
