Another Stillwater, MN pathetic understanding of sidewalks. This one they added half a block to connect a park but didnβt even bother finishing the whole block.
@scottbergermn
Union Park, Saint Paul, Minnesota urbanist. Give me all four seasons. Call me "multi-modal." Folding/cargo bikes. Manual transmission elitist. Electrification. Winter tires. Car problem aficionado. Cats. Kids. Patents. Sports. Ovalbore wannabe.

Iβd like to get a financial and securities expert on the pod. My suspicion is that the $500MM debt was accrued not through baseball but through CRE holdings balloon payments and secured to the Twins Franchise asset.
I call DSI fairly often. Especially when itβs a business.
Which seemingly is also the single best reason to ride transit in the city.
Saint Paul should have vibes akin to the Christmas Market all 52 weeks a year.
Letβs not forget the first several years of Gleeman and Geek covered a perpetually futile franchise.
Although I would argue this is worse than any of the aughts years because it now appears intentional.
I willingly biked down rutted βbike friendlyβ Summit Ave tonight. AMA.
We looked at the subwoofer and it was fixed.
To be fair, the federal government basically just did that.
I have been gradually planning to write a @streets.mn piece outlining all the reasons Stillwater, MN is disappointing, but could be truly great if it got its priorities straight--which it won't. It should be named the "City of Parking." The entire riverfront is paved and there is almost no shade.
I commute to Stillwater daily and see basically the opposite: a beautiful, but car-dominated downtown with laughably narrow sidewalks, endless parking lots, and a highway for a main street. Hundreds of curb cuts, and weird land use. IMO, Stillwater succeeds despiteβnot because ofβits urban design.
@blindeke.bsky.social -- we need to talk about Stillwater. Let's just say I think we have a difference of opinion on this one!
We just canceled Disney+ after having it for more than five years straight.
We have small children.
This is getting real.
Another day, another repaired car picked up by trunk-stowable Brompton bike!
Another view of the folly
I, also of Saint Paul, just did the same.
Brand new street in #StillwaterMN and they didnβt extend the sidewalk another 30 feet to fill an isolated sidewalk gap. Truly perplexing. Maple and Owens.
What have we done to deserve this?
Just heard that @mollycoleman.bsky.social won the Ward 4 election handily, proving (once again!) that the anti-street-safety 'tree truther' SARPA cranks have no juice. Congrats to Molly! I think she can be an excellent St. Paul City Council Member.
If the new owners donβt spend the savings I agree. Can we assume that?
But why expect value for the dead weight, back-end of the 6-yr contract?
If the desirable part of a multi year contract for an aging FA is the early few years, isnβt it actually shrewd to offload the back end years of these expensive contracts? β¦ Assuming they re-spend that money of course.
Data aside, the B line *feels* twice as fast as the 21 to me. Sometimes perception matters as much as actual speeds.
Itβs an ugly song. There I said it.
Stillwater on the riverfront for years had a similar sign, year round. I found it obnoxious and so did everyone else apparently, since it saw virtually zero compliance.
This type of thing is put in place by a person who hasnβt ridden a bike since they were a kid.
Better than a walk off. Impressive.
Whatβs our record in these games?
Matt Farah is basically the guy I want to be
SUVs are *exempt* from the "gas guzzler tax" -- you cannot even make this stuff up.
Too funny. Signs all over the place saying cars must yield.
Trail crossings arenβt legal intersections by default but they also often have legal zebra stripes. Including in this area. This messaging is harmful for spreading misinformation.
