I could post a lot on the Work Session on how to use the unspent Housing Bureau dollars, but I want to state a guiding principle:
I am working towards a Portland where you can afford to live in the neighborhood you want, and where you move only if you want to.
Everything follows from that.
As the U.S. and Israel continue their bombardment of Iran and the conflict spreads throughout the region, we speak with two former U.S. government officials with experience in Middle East policy under presidents Obama and Biden.

they knew they could get away with it because they practiced all those times on the βnarco-terroristβ boats, where they also killed the survivors, and nobody sent them to The Hague about it so they are running completely unchecked right now with full use of the arsenal. I do not know how this ends
DID YOU KNOW that the City of Portland extracts $10 million a year from downtown property owners in order to partially subsidize the cityβs most active lobbying org?
Great article from Taylor! One thing that doesn't get mentioned is what the natural variability of the number of people in those brackets is due to stock sales. At those income levels that's a non negligible source of income that has a lot of variability to it. Ditto for the total amount collected.
The county has limited data about whoβs paying its Preschool for All tax, which only went into effect in 2021. Still, some seized on a 14% dip in high-income filers between 2021 and β22 to suggest the tax drove wealthy ppl away. New data complicates that narrative.
Such a great idea to have IPAs and PIAs! That could never get confusing!

Did you know that someone's life is better because of you? Think about all the people you read or heard about who inspire you. You are doing that for someone else, and if you're lucky, they might even tell you. Thank you for being you.
A message we all need. Seen in a Portland neighborhood on a fine spring day.
The secretary of Miami-Dade Countyβs GOP started a group chat for conservative students β and within 3 weeks, it was filled with over 400 instances of the N-word, Nazi rhetoric and writings of "dozens of ways of violently killing Black people"
I want to do my part in raising awareness. Texas's Big Bend is set to receive new border security infrastructure, including >100 mi of border wall cutting through Big Bend National Park. Kristi Noem just waived 28 environmental protection laws and regulations to expedite this construction. 𧡠1/4
