Close-up woodland floor scene among moss (a bryophyte). A pale lace-like skeletonised leaf lies across a dark decaying leaf, the fine network of veins still intact while the softer leaf tissue has disappeared. Bright green feathery moss surrounds it, with a small woodland seedling and a catkin nearby.
I saw this while looking at moss today...
Scientists have long predicted ecosystems would shift in response to warming, with some species moving out and others moving in. But a major new study has found the rate of turnover is declining, suggesting nature may be losing its ability to self-repair.
I donβt want to share the video because itβs pretty graphic, but apparently weβre at the βRepublican Senator breaks the arm of a Marine IN FULL DRESS because that marine was protesting the Republicans starting a war of choice with Iranβ stage of things.
A photo taken from behind a wispy waterfall. It falls into a nearly black pool. On the left, you see part of the rock wall with bright green moss at the bottom. It's a gray day and the sky looks white.

U.S. State Department notice for Americans to leave 13 Middle Eastern countries
Image of current flights in the air over the Middle East
The U.S. State Department issued a notice yesterday for Americans to evacuate more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries "via commercial means due to serious safety risks."
The catch?
Air space is closed. There are no flights leaving 10 of the 13 countries.
Angled-down image of a frog perched on a brown leaf and facing left. The frog's principal ground color is black, with yellowish-white stripes running from the nose through the eye and down the back to the legs. A second stripe runs along the lower jaw, terminating at the front legs. The legs are a light brown and there is a triangular flashmark of bright yellow at the top of the thigh. The frog also has some dark brown blobs attached to the lower back - four tadpoles, hanging on until the male frog can transport them to a suitable source of water.
Know what doesn't suck right now, or ever? Nature. This Pale-striped Poison Frog (Ameerega hahneli) was hopping across an open area at our NE Peru field station, on his way to find a suitable wet place to deposit his tadpoles (such as the axils of a bromeliad). #herps #frogs #NaturePhotography πΏ

Today is #WorldWildlifeDay and I have been fortunate to experience so many magic moments with wildlife. We need to continue to work towards protecting wildlife and the places that they call home.

Tayra, Costa Rica
Looking like a cross between a monkey and a black panther, the tayra is one of the coolest creatures I've encountered in Costa Rica. Having seen them only a handful of times and photographed them even less, it's always a privilege spotting one.
