It’s not an exaggeration to say that this game nudged the course of my life. There’s a straight line from that gold cartridge to the work I do now.

Forty years later, I still chase that feeling of stepping into the unknown with a wooden sword and no map.

Real dev wisdom here. Getting this stuff in early helps everyone understand what the game feels like - and not just what it looks like. Makes it much easier for artists to align style to emotion instead of guessing, and heads off the 'oh shit we forgot about audio' tornado at the end of the project

They would have an easier time filling vacancies if salaries in the UK were higher. The talent is heading abroad (often for for 2–3x the pay). There are plenty of Brits crushing it in gamesβ€”but they're priced out of the UK at the senior and expert level.
