man I’m sorry to be all corny here but when I see a “the city is beautiful! There’s more to it than homeless people!” I gotta say you know who’s also beautiful? People who have no place to live & are trying to get by in a system that has turned its back on them & if you don’t see that that’s on you

I found the prose great. The events in the book hit like a sledgehammer though. Those are hard.

The book Human Acts is an excellent exploration of the Gwangju Massacre

I worry they’d pull out machine guns.

Ice America or MAGA America will have the same ring as Nazi Germany sooner or later.

Fuck.

I hate watching all of this.

They killed a nurse at a peaceful protest.

They arrest babies.

They arrest grandparents.

Arrest is probably the wrong word.

They disappear people.

Hypernormalization describes a state where a false, simplified, or surreal version of reality becomes so accepted as normal that people lose the ability or will to challenge it, even when aware of its untruth, often due to systemic inertia or lack of alternatives. Coined by Alexei Yurchak for late Soviet society, it was popularized by Adam Curtis's documentary, applying it to modern Western cultures where complex problems are met with fabricated, anesthetic narratives by those in power, leading to collective cognitive dissonance where everyone pretends a dysfunctional system is working.

Since when did Waffle House get biscuits and gravy? I’ve been away from the states too long.

Now, we’re talking. We could open packs when we meet up and deck build from a pool we create from those packs and to make it faster limit the deck size to 40. It might even be fun to pass the contents of the packs around and select a card as they loop around.

I tumbled leaving a smoking room at the Incheon airport today after my flight back from Fukuoka. Completely missed the step down. Mildly embarrassing. At least I didn’t injure my body. Just my pride. I had so much pride in my sense of balance. Turns out I wasn’t balanced at all.

I really hate having a president that makes photoshopped memes. Everything is dumb.

In getting what I want news, I’ve wanted the US government to take stakes in our corporations for a long time like Trump is doing with Intel as it’s a great way to fund public services. But this is a monkey paw situation and none of that profit will go towards useful programs. Just war and fascism.

The stuff going on in America stinks of fascism. Military being used as police, firing intelligence for doing intelligence, stopping aid, halting medical and scientific grants, and naughty and nice lists of our corporate players.

Human Acts by Han Kang. I think counts as fiction but it’s based on real events and the story is a harrowingly look at protests and standing up for what you believe in. It’s really sad though. Soul crushing at times.

I went full proxy with my cube. Best decision I’ve made as far as stress goes. I never worry about a spilt drink or cards going missing.

I started reading the comic series, “Something Is Killing the Children”. I get the hype. The first three issues are so good. Love the art and the grit.

I finished Head Over Heels. It’s a solid drama. A bit cheesy, but that’s part of the romantic genre. I think it would have been better without the time skip at the end or a few more episodes to wrap things up. Probably a 7 out of 10.

I want one year rotation

So I’ve been watching the K-Drama, Head Over Heels, about a high school shaman and her first love. The first love is of course cursed to die. So, she has to go out of her way to ward off evil spirits. Good stuff. Cheesy, fun, and cute. I guess it’s romantancy. A genre I won’t read, but would like.

So Washington DC is under marshal law or whatever taking over the police force is called? I don’t understand why. How does that guy keep getting away with it?
