Intensely jealous that you're experiencing these books for the first time. Surely there's a compound German word for this. Le Carre would have known it.

GOP slams Mass. for not working with ICE — but reality tells a different story Though the Trump administration claims Massachusetts is a “sanctuary state,” some local police cooperate with ICE routinely. The relationships vary town by town, and departments largely decide for the...

Beacon Hill needs to ban both formal and informal collaboration between state and local police and ICE. #mapoli

Interesting! It never really occurred to me to vote no. I think of this just as an end run around the limit on tax rate (or tax rate increase?) when probably our taxes should just be consistently higher instead of bumpy.

I don’t believe being an NFL fan means selling your soul, or even being a hypocrite. But we should probably at least not ignore that it’s adjacent.

Excellent thread. I'll add, since I'm not a public figure and can speak less guardedly, that a willingness to spurn collegiality surely has something to do with being Black and a woman, two characteristics that mean a lot of collegiality other people get isn't available to you anyway.

Possible to start to tell a unified story: "Trump is personally too old, crazy, and confused to run things, so at any given time the question is which co-president is in charge. At first it was Musk, & we got the crazy chaotic DOGE era. Then Navarro: a trade war that crashed markets. Now Miller..."
