Politics is never perfect! They are doing it now. And of course, there have been major errors in policy. But still my view is: you have to have a total focus on delivery now. If the party gets locked in leadership psychodramas, you might as well hand the keys to Reform.

Well they’ve actually done a lot of good things imo, they’re just not good at talking about them. Eg removing the two child limit will lift 500,000 children out of poverty. NHS waiting lists are down. Tax system is more progressive. Employment rights are now stronger.

Labour’s got to try and show - ahead of those elections - that it can actually deliver. Getting AB into parliament would only make that more difficult imo - not least because the media is fixated on leadership challenges after the last ten years.

I think this is the right decision. If AB stood, the media (and the party) would talk about nothing but leadership challenges for the next six months. Labour needs to get its act together and KS needs to do a lot better but the idea that AB is the answer is delusional.

Yes I felt the same and so, after a few research contracts, I gave up my academic dream and went to work for the civil service… I felt much more at home there (and most people behaved much much better!)

Even if Polanski was on the ballot, Gorton and Denton would still vote for AB. Alas he’s the only Labour candidate who I think could win…. But I think changing leader now would be a disaster
