Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

I'll vote for Heather Cox Richardson.
I started out at Purdue, but ended up getting a late degree from IU and working there til I retired. My loyalties are divided!
Iβm so happy for my friends that faithfully followed IU football during even the leanest years.
Thank you for making me smile on a regular basis.
The repetition of the lies is all it takes for some people to believe them. I see them reported, then I see them repeated as truth by my MAGA friends and family. I've given up on trying to point out the truth because that's not what they want to hear.
I'm about at the same point. I was a little bit afraid that I'd be disappointed after immersing myself in the universe of The Others again recently. But I'm enjoying this world. There are consequences to not respecting the Arcana, as was the case with the Others.
He's not giving up, is he? May need to write my rep again to voice my opposition.
ahh! a small fluffy ghost sits on a hardwood floor staring directly at us. but actually... the longer we take it in, the more cute the ghost becomes. one could even mistake this little guy for a golden retriever puppy wearing a sheet with eye, ear, and mouth holes cut out of it. even though he gave us a fright, we would still pet this ghost puppy.
My goodness. Please donβt send in ghosts. They are very frightening. We only rate dogs. Thank you... 12/10 (IG: theodore.goldenvelt)
The sick #truth ... his end game is to destroy #democracy and our freedoms just like he is destroying the people's house! Be part of the solution and stop following evil
Jigsaw puzzle time for me. Hoping it will calm my mind so I can sleep.
This assassination "is not just a human tragedy for Kirk's family. It is not just an affront to society. It is an attack on our civic compact. It should be confronted as such, with no qualifications or equivocations. It is also not the first such attack." www.thebulwark.com/p/the-assass...
I am having an amazing time at #bouchercon. Met some interesting new to me authors and was able to say hello to a couple of old favorites. I may have just enough energy left to finish it out.
It was nice to meet you at the signing table!
Thanks for your post and the other comments. I'm really having trouble with outrage/life balance.
Not saying that an entry level worker should be paid the same as a CEO, but the efforts of one human cannot be THAT much more valuable than the efforts of another human. Income/wealth inequality is at the core of many of our other national problems.
I have it on my schedule! And my children's book ready to pack.
Will do! Have you read or listened to Hail Mary by Andy Weir? What about The Calculated Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal? They are SF, not mystery.
Getting excited about #Bouchercon2025 Judging from past experience my TBR pile will explode.
I'll be there!
I'll be there and will keep my eyes open for you. Just added "Vanishing Daughters" to my Kindle. Looks like a great read!
I was an AS/400 RPG programmer. I was good at coding and debugging, but the reason I was sought after was my ability to see the big picture. My son is in IT and shares that ability. I've told him that's really his ticket. Technology changes, but problem solving is still key.
Same for us that worked for a living and paid into Social Security and Medicare.
Acquaintances who casually mention "well, my doctor said . . ." seem shocked when I mention "well, my psychiatrist said . . .". I'm 72 and was in my 50s before I was diagnosed. Can't count the times when my mother said "you're too much like your dad!" when my feelings would get hurt too easily.
Aaaaw - looks just like my granddog!
I'm attending John Lewis Actions's event, βGOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON:β - sign up now to join me! #citizensagainstyranny www.mobilize.us/citizensagai...
Yes. IU Bloomington.
My alma mater + place I retired from is also cutting programs. I worked in the graduate school with many of the staff from those programs. It just makes me want to cry.
My summer job in 1971 was detasseling corn (removing tassels from the "female" corn rows to produce hybrid seed corn). On the way to work that morning I hit a skunk. Then I left my car in the hot sun of the city parking lot all day. Was NOT a nice experience getting back to that!
I want to smell a sample. That way I know who to avoid.
