I saw Drink the Sea play an awesome set at the Ardmore Music Hall in greater Philly tonight.

The lawlessness and dismantling of our democracy wonβt stop until we stop it. Good to see Powell calling this for what it isβ¦now he needs to stay on as Governor when his term as Fed chair ends. This isnβt a drillβ¦
Caught Oldest Sea live last year, it was a great show.
Using #SahmRule -style indicators with labor utilization shows a gradient: broader measures of underemployment (esp. U-6) flag rising slackβbecause vulnerable workers tend to be underemployed.

Our NYE tradition as of late is to watch the ball drop on TV, then spend the next 40 minutes sipping champagne to Lifes Rich Pageant while we (technically me, observed by spouse and dog) dance around the living room. Trying to start the year in a good mood lol.
For my last year-in-tunes album, I'm staying local with As God As My Witness, None Of You Will Survive by Orion's Sword. I have seen Marc play a few great sets this year, check out Incident At The Yamato Perpetual Reactor.

I feel like listening to alt-rock today. Queen Rodeo reminds me of some of the stuff you'd hear on college radio back in the 90's. Brighter and Cruise Control have been rattling around in my head since the album came out in March.

Sticking with post-metal tonight - came across this one when a band member posted in a music subreddit. SLOWCUT (not to be confused with Slowcut) is from Australia and really rocks out. Only 2 songs... I recommend them both.

The Seeing House by IRK is next up. Another noise rock album, guess it is that kind of year. My Life in Bins is my pick from this one due to the line, "I am a sexy taxpayer!". The Beatles could never.

I had to start tracking a few years back to prevent unintentional re-reads. Middle age brain problems, haha.
I was happy to see In the Earth Again by Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo on some of the end of year, best-of-lists. There is some heavy, some acoustic, some noise. I recommend Beyond a Pale Horse and Radioactive Dreams.

This one is my album of the year - No Violet's debut LP is earnest, serious, occasionally goofy, and a little mad all at the same time. Check out Wait a Minute, What's About To Begin, and Honesty, Honestly. Incredible, incredible record.

Nilufer Yanya's EP, Dancing Shoes, is going to stand out on this list a bit for genre, but it is soooooo good. I think I bought this one halfway through the first track, Kneel.

they have a sale! Don Bolo's whole catalog is available via Bandcamp (web version) for 90 cents right now.
Today I'm listening to Umma by Don Bolo, which might be my favorite interpretation of the source material. First Ecuadorian album in my collection as far as I can tell. If you like instrumental post rock, or art rock, or weird stuff generally check out AbominaciΓ³n.

No esperan por nadie is a split from cΓ³clea and canut de bon - post-hardcore/sceamo/sasscore (wtf?) from Chile. I enjoyed Cairo and Tango, this one was in heavy rotation from me in the spring.
