But I was definitely aware we were going to war and that it’d be a clusterfuck. I lived in Portland and the activist community there started gearing up immediately.
I graduated college in spring of 2001. I had other problems that exacerbated my experience, but it felt for a little while like the world had ended before I got much of a chance to live in it. Obviously a very self-occupied early-20s POV, but that was part of how I processed it all.
