Every day Instagram shows me the first 2/3 of a Threads post, and curiosity gets the better of me. The surrounding posts fall into one of 4 categories: Trump horseshit, people using the magic text to try to entrap perverts, cranky Gen X libs, or Stan accounts for things like “70s bush.” What an app!

Which is funnier: Lee "The Refrigerator" Perry or William "Scratch" Perry?

I think Buckley is a crazy talent, I just don’t know if the body of work is there. If they inducted albums, GRACE would get in.

Re: Shakira, I just think that if you want to open the Hall to Latin artists (and they 100% should), I would start elsewhere. I don’t disagree that she eventually deserves a spot, I just like things going in a more linear direction

Re: Buckley, again, put in Elliott Smith or Nick Drake first.(1/2)

OH SHIT I forgot that Salt n Peppa got in last year in a side category! I'll swap them out for...TLC

LOL. For me, the Rock Hall needs to celebrate artists who are bigger than one moment, and she just has one moment, sadly. And like I said, I enjoy her!

After 1999?

See you all next year.

But as a reminder, this would be my pie in the sky ballot:

The B-52s
Pixies
Hüsker Dü
De La Soul
The Monkees
Salt N Peppa
Os Mutantes

The voters get seven votes. If I had a ballot, my seven would be:

Mariah Carey
Iron Maiden
Joy Division/New Order
Oasis
Sade
Luther Vandross
Wu-Tang Clan

Wu-Tang Clan: as previously established, ain’t nothing to fuck with. Another slam dunk.

25.02.2026 13:15 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Luther Vandross: I would induct him solely on his “Young Americans” backing vocals. Not nearly enough soul in the Hall, and you don’t get more deserving in that genre than Luther.

Shakira: see what I said about P!nk. BUT, Shakira would get a world/latinx artist in, and that’s a plus. But I would still want the artists who paved her path in first.

Sade: Hell. Yes. This checks so many boxes: female fronted, mixed race band (yes, Sade is a band and the lead singer’s name), innovative and influential l.

25.02.2026 13:12 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

P!nk: this is way too early when there are MANY female pop artists who have been around longer and deserve it just as much if not more, but she’ll get in one day and I won’t complain. Hits for days.

25.02.2026 13:10 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Oasis: this isn’t interesting or exciting, but they just had the biggest tour of the year and have six songs you still hear in CVS. Plus it’s a story. They’ll get in this year.

New Edition: a lot of hits, still around, will clearly perform at the ceremony. But I can’t help but feel like there are a ton of pop/r&b acts that are clearly more deserving and overdue.

25.02.2026 13:07 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Joy Division/New Order: another slam dunk induction. I make this case every year, but you hear more New Order influence in general music in 2026 than any other artist on this list minus maybe one or two.

25.02.2026 13:05 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Iron Maiden: vote them in. NOW. They tick every box: defined a genre, still making music, have “hits” (metal hits are obviously different), my mom knows who they are, Metal is underrepresented in the Hall. Induct Eddie with them, you cowards.

25.02.2026 13:04 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

INXS: the Hall needs more international artists (non-UK edition) so that’s +1. You still hear some of their songs around, that’s +1. I think they’re light on the influence and innovation, but the story and the hits probably get them in. I’m fine with it and welcome the chance to reacquaint myself.

25.02.2026 13:02 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Billy Idol: I get the idea, but there are so many actual punk artists that have influence and vitality that deserve to go in before Idol’s watered down MTV faux punk. Nothing against Idol and his four good songs, but this is typical dumb Hall logic.

25.02.2026 12:59 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Ms. Lauryn Hill: look, I love THE MISEDUCATION like God loves the poor, but this is a classic case of needing to induct the Fugees/Lauryn Hill as a combination, because outside of that one record, she just has that whack Unplugged album and a legacy of being hours late. With Fugees, I vote yes.

25.02.2026 12:57 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Melissa Etheridge: this comes from a good place (the Hall wanting to induct more women and queer folk), but while she wrote a few quality songs, the depth of innovation, influence, and longevity (of making albums people care about) get a no from me. The B-52s should have this slot. Sorry, Melissa.

25.02.2026 12:56 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Phil Collins: look, I don’t like this any more than you do, but the dude has a case. If Ringo can get in for his drumming plus a few solo hits, Collins has dozens more songs you know than Ringo solo, and is a more technically proficient drummer. It’s a bummer, but he probably has a shot.

25.02.2026 12:53 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Mariah Carey: here is where the proud boys defending rock from pop and hip hop start showing up. The Hall has always been bigger than the narrow definition of rock Gene Simmons espouses whenever someone puts a mic in front of his mouth. Carey has chops, hits, influence. Slam dunk inductee

25.02.2026 12:51 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Jeff Buckley: even if you think GRACE is a top ten album of all time, dude did not have a career long enough to merit this. The only song 99% of the world knows is a cover that, while great, has begat a thousand truly terrible versions of the same song.
