The iconic interviewer Nardwuar the Human Serviette hosts Nardwuar’s Video Vault at The Broadside on October 26. But first, Associate Editor William Archambeault turns Canada’s greatest interviewer into an interviewee (including a few gifts).

My @antigravitymag.bsky.social interview with @nardwuarserviette.bsky.social is online now! It was lots of fun to dig into some odd topics with Canada's most notorious interviewer and even present him with a few gifts.

Print copies of the October issue should already be all over New Orleans. I'll post again when the web page version is out. In the meantime, here is a link to a PDF of the new issue. (3/3)

I am also deeply honored that the great Steve Williams drew an illustration of us to go with this interview. I can still remember being in high school and seeing Steve's work for so many cool local bands like Fatter Than Albert. It's a privilege to come full circle with both Nardwuar and Steve! 2/3

It is an absolute honor (and quite surreal!) to announce that I got to interview the one and only @nardwuarserviette.bsky.social for @antigravitymag.bsky.social ! It was a privilege to turn the tables on him and come up with all kinds of odd questions for Canada's most notorious interviewer. (1/3)

I've always loved getting to open this issue and see so many brilliant photographers' work. It is an honor for my pictures to be part of this ANTIGRAVITY tradition. I took both of these photos on a cheap film point-and-shoot camera that I found at a thrift store in Osaka.

They are truly some under-recognized greats. Props to whoever added the memorabilia to the desk. I spy a Japanese copy of Time's Up, a promo copy of Time's Up, and the VHS Time Tunnel. Can you tell I'm a big Living Colour nerd? Haha

t.a.c.k., the new orleans trash can punks who love fishing dads The trash can punk duo from New Orleans discuss their aesthetic, mutual love of the Gories, and what the name (maybe) stands for.

T.A.C.K. are a ramshackle punk duo from New Orleans who smash trash can lids, model themselves after dads who hang out in front of Tractor Supply, and found each other through a mutual love of the Gories and Country Teasers.

Now on see/saw, a conversation in NOLA with Willie Archambeault.

The Jazz Fest style Acid Bath sign was especially bizzare!

I caught the second Acid Bath reunion gig last night. It's surreal that a local metal band sold out The Fillmore for two nights during Jazz Fest season!

It's incredible how much of my time editing a reviews section is spent trying to determine if an artist REALLY wants a stylization πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

The Sendai scene is small but has a great community feel to it. Birdland was my main hub. Bar Take, Flying Son, and the Enn clubs also get some stuff. Band wise, I consider Spike Shoes to be one of the most criminally underrated bands in Japanese punk. youtu.be/d6BOw_R6EYw?...

Thanks for the kind words! Wajima is a brilliant mind. I couldn't have asked for a better advisor for my research.

I noticed your focus on punk and am excited to follow you. I was a very active participant in the Osaka underground scene and, prior to that, the Sendai scene.

Hey y'all! I recently returned to New Orleans after three years in Osaka, Japan! Last month, Osaka University awarded me a master's degree in musicology for my research on musical connections between New Orleans and Japan! Here is a picture of me with my advisor Yusuke Wajima after my grad ceremony.
